Come and sit in my chair at the Aveda Institute Austin! Now Booking for Manicures and Pedicures starting at $12!!
I have been staying busy with school and have had no time or desire to sit at my computer and type a blog post, but it is absolutely necessary you see all the things I've been up to recently. My New Year's resolution was to blog much more often, at least twice a week preferably. I haven't really been successful with that but it's only January.
Last week we learned manicures and this week we are learned pedicures. I have to say that manicures have been my absolute favorite part so far. Now pedicures are a completely different monster.
For the last two weeks, we were able to do completions (thermal styling or updos) on each other in the morning as long as the person sitting in the chair was also doing a completion. Renee has been my guinea pig since she is my neighbor. Below you'll see a picture of her hair when Kylie and I gave her spiral curls.
The following day, Jackie and Renee curled my hair which is the pictured I blogged last week. On another occasion, I had less than twenty minutes to conjure something up. I was able to make this awesome wrap braid. I would say she looks like a modern Frida Kahlo without the unibrow and mustache.
We are still working on our mannequin heads of course. Here's a great blowout.
We have to do 100 perms before we graduate so I set my mannequin and we left her overnight. I love the result. I think it looks great, especially in the second picture with the disco vibe and the bold eyelashes makes it more dramatic.
Below are curls done with the Marcel Iron.
Since the hair was already curled, it was easy to put up into an updo.
I also tried to do a French twist that would spiral open tornado at the top of the forehead. I got inspired by a picture from a runway show however the mannequin's hair is above the shoulder. I was able to get it to stay with the Aveda Control Force HairSpray, but it didn't have enough spiral tornado as I had hoped.I would still love to try it again on someone with super long hair and much more time.
I know pictures give you a better understanding of what I can do and what I've been learning. I promise to continue to post more pictures and keep this as a sort of a portfolio for you and me. Tell me what you think. I hope to see you in my chair soon.
