This shawl has a bunch of firsts for me :3 It’s the first time I’ve

made a shawl

used cotton yarn

tried blocking a piece

I actually got the pattern for this skull shawl by doing a crochet class at a local yarn shop. The pattern they gave was really fun to work with and it’s free on ravelry. The version we did was the one were you crocheted the skull eyes into the pattern, instead of having to sew them in after. 

Overall this was a lot of fun and I’m amazed at how much the piece changes after you’ve blocked it. Sooooo much flatter and awesome looking now. I’m looking forward to wearing it out for Halloween, and you know, every other day of the year.

So I finished my first lace piece this month.  It was fun and easier than I though it would be!  While I was digging around for something else, I rediscovered this skein of Linaza and couldn’t stop touching it.  That’s how I ended up with it in the first place.  I’ve never come across an alpaca/linen blend and it’s freaking amazing!  Today I searched Ravelry for what to do with it and came across this pattern by Katie Rempe called Ship to Shore.  I like that it’s pretty open stitching so the shawl will work as a complimentary color to what I wear under it.
