“You tricked me, Piper. I thought that at the very least, we’d be getting a caravan getting past the gate. I can work with that: tell the Mayor you snuck in while I was getting them cleared to enter. But oh no-” 

He wasn’t truly mad at Piper- the reporter got on his nerves, but he knew her intentions were never malicious. What he did take issue with was being the scapegoat for the Mayor’s frustrations as a result of their feud. 

“I got double duty now, Piper- patrolling the city when I should be on break. So thanks for that.”

Send me a ☁ for a headcanon I have for my muse, but I have never used yet

If not for the already subtle addictive effects of the chem use of Mentats and Buffout, he’d surely be doing Med-X on the side to numb himself out of the guilt that weighs on him when he doesn’t have anything to keep himself busy with. However, with the drugs having their minor side effects, he usually avoids using them either.

These two drugs being the only two confirmed for him to be using shows his sense of worth. He’s always nervous to lead and wants to do his absolute best by enhancing his own capabilities as much as possible -- leading to Buffout for more of a physical prowess and Mentats to keep himself sharp and focused for both his work as well as being out on the field. He never carries any on him and the only known bits of it are all in his Quarters on the Prydwen, so usage is few and far between but it’s still enough to know he shouldn’t be using them. 

It’s enough to make sure that others don’t use them if at all possible -- hence his ‘disliking’ of the act of doing chems by the Sole Survivor. He doesn’t want others to rely on the chems as he has. He wants them to do better than himself because in a sense? Especially through the Sole Survivor, I’m sure he sees bits of himself IN them. 

By the end of it, Danse is a classic example of “Do as I say, not as I do.” And in plenty of cases beyond just this one, but I won’t get into that right now. o:
