Wristly find Dark Sky to be Most Popular Apple Watch App
Today Wristly, the organisation behind a lot of the Apple Watch statistics coming out recently, posted its seventeenth report on Apple Watch. This weeks report focused on how people use their Apple Watch. One of the key highlights of the report is that Dark Sky was found to be the most popular app for Apple Watch among those that were polled, with Overcast and Fantastical coming second and third respectively. It was also pointed out that apps in the weather category seemed to be the most popular overall.
Wristly did go on to list what their survey said were the ten most popular apps for Apple Watch. Two of the apps I was surprised to see on this list were Twitter and Instagram since I don’t see social media apps like this to be a natural fit on wearable devices since I find it more comfortable to read my Twitter timeline on my phone rather than my watch.
The report also confirmed something we pretty much all assumed: the watch is not a consumption device. The most popular type of consumption through Apple Watch was streaming music, which only 29% of people said they did either weekly or daily. The number of people consuming other media goes further downhill from there; 88% of respondents said they never or seldom view synced photos on their Watch.
There are a variety of other findings as well such as that 31% of respondents use a bluetooth headset with their Apple Watch, 77% of respondents own an Apple TV as well as an Apple Watch and various insights into the Apple Music usage such as of the 71% of respondents that have started an Apple Music trial, 55% will definitely pay the subscription.
As always I haven’t gone through all of the results, I’ve simply discussed the ones that caught my interest. You can read the full report over at Medium.
