A list because my mind is annoying me today.
Having a serious case of dickbrain today (my brain being an absolute dick and making me think about horrible things, not an actual dick-shaped brain!), so I think it's high time I made a list of all the lovely things that make me happy.
Crepes. Fluffy socks. New books. Old books. Cuddles - from cats or my favourite human, I'm not terribly fussy. Cake filled with strawberries and fresh cream. Netflix.Naps.Nutella - The holy trinity of Ns! The fact that Autumn is fast approaching. Scary movies. Purple lipstick. Halloween. Kittens. Peanut butter cups. Pyjamas. New pyjamas. Going walking in Autumn. Big cosy cuddly jumpers. Sleeping in on weekends. The sea. The beach. Bath bombs. Pamper days in general. Listening to great music which walking on the treadmill - also the feeling of accomplishment when I'm done. Pretty stationary. Ticking off things from my to-do list. Hoovering. Yes. Hoovering! I find it therapeutic.
Okay. Maybe life isn't so bad and stressful.
When my patient brings in a tackle box full of current and expired meds for me to try to reconcile
1. I never let my parents cut my hair. In my very first stubborn stance I chose to stand for something that should never matter that much. But to me, my hair always was the part of me that I could most agree with, I liked it. 2. I broke my glasses in two. Right down the center, I banged my head into my brother's knees. We were rolling around on the carpet and I remember hopelessly trying to come out on top. Even then I fought for something unattainable. 3. I bargained with my mom. Half an hour reading bought me half an hour extra before bedtime. Stories extended my reality. For me, sleep was just this thing I had to do in between the chapters of my stories. 4. I met you. And then it became... 5. I loved you. 6. I loved you. 7. I loved you. 8. I can't figure out how to stop loving you because I never let my parents cut my hair; I broke my glasses in two; I bargained with my mom but I, never figured out how to stop wanting you. I could never stand up to you, could never come out on top of you, I could never bargain with time to let me forget you. On my list, you take up four, five, six, seven and eight because after I met you none of the other numbers mattered.
of all the things I've done, you still matter most, Connie M
COMM105A_POST 2: Identifying Myself
One of the other activities we did in this class was write a list of ten words we would use to identify us. Words that could tell someone who we are, what we like, what we do...all that jazz. Like the license plate activity (http://crazylittlepieceofsunshine.tumblr.com/post/41531637551/comm105a-post-1-license-plate-talk), I really enjoyed this one. Just by using simple words and writing a list of only ten, it was crazy to see on paper just how complex a person actually is. There are so many words you can use to describe one person. On top of this, writing a list saying who I am, felt really good. Like, a confidence booster type thing. And so, the reason I am blogging about this is because I think it is an awesome idea for someone with low esteem to try. You know how people always say that when you are having a bad day or feeling low about life, list off five things you have to be grateful for? Well, do that when you are feeling low on yourself. On your personality, looks, smarts...Write a list of positive words describing who you are & love yourself.
