Announcing the Apply Butt to Chair and Fucking Write Weekly Writing Challenge
From the FAQ:
The fuck is this?
This is the shiny new tumblr incarnation of Grindstone, a long-defunct Livejournal community for those of us who, having gone through the white-hot forge that is NaNoWriMo, now find that we cannot write without some kind of pressure. Basically, the idea is that you write 10,000 words in a week. The new tumblr-idea is that you write 10,000 words every week.
The fuck are you?
I dunno, man, someone gave me the modship of Grindstone a long time ago and I let it die, and I’ve been feeling guilty ever since.
No, really, what happens here?
The rules are few and simple. Weeks start on Monday and end on Sunday. You have seven days to write ten thousand words. Every Monday morning (US Central Time) you’ll get your kickoff announcement and a prompt for the week. Every day you’ll get nagging reminders to write, encouragement, reblogs of Neil Gaiman posts, shit like that. And every Sunday we check in and announce our victory to the world.
What do I get if I win?
You get ten thousand fucking words. And a shiny new sense of superiority.
What do I get if I fail?
You get however many words you wrote, and the chance to fail better next week.
This sounds hard.
In the immortal words of Dyson Cieslewicz: Fuck you. Get harder.
But seriously though. Writing is hard, and the only thing that makes it easier is doing more of it. If you can’t do 10,000 words in a week, that’s fine - do five. Do two. Do whatever you can. But do it, and keep doing it. That’s how you write.
And the question you've all been waiting for: When does it start?
Monday! Monday, Feburary 18th! 10,000 words! Come on, you know you wanna.
