10 Day WIP Challenge: A Moment of Drama
This is for @inky-duchess’s 10 day challenge!
“I never imagined this would be how it ends,” Venya seemed to be talking to herself, softly murmuring as she examined her vial, shining a crimson red. “With you, Mr. Cesarini.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I demanded, gripping my sword like a lifeline. “You didn’t think I would come after you?”
“Well, I suppose I never thought you would actually have the courage to do so.” Venya replied calmly. Somehow, her tone made me even more angry.
“You think you can get away with killing those kids?” I shouted angrily. “You think that you can try to experiment on us and not expect us to fight back?”
This seemed to make her get on guard. “It was not I who came up with the idea,” Venya hissed, her eyes flashing with anger. “You think I wanted it to come to this?”
“You allowed it to go this far, didn’t you?” I yelled.
“Enough!” Venya boomed, her voice rumbling around the cave. The stone walls shook with the magic behind her words, a reminder of how powerful she was.
I had to keep her busy. Just a bit more. Just until Coro and the others arrive. All I have to do is stay alive until then.
I can do that, right?
“But the one thing I don’t get, is why am I still alive?” I asked her. “If you wanted me dead, I would be.”
“That is true. You’re still alive because,” Venya breathed, seemingly over he fit of rage as she eyed me up and down. “We are one in the same, Mr. Cesarini.”
I instantly bristled at the statement. “I’m nothing like you.”
“Oh, no?” Venya raised an eyebrow. “We both had our loved ones ripped away from us. We suffered at the hands of those that killed them. We both sought to avenge them. We’re products of war.” She fingered the edge of her knife anxiously.
“Only I was willing to do what it took to get them back.”
“You’re crazy,” I snarled, rage boiling under my skin. How dare she use my parents’ death against me.
“I know how much you miss them.” Her voice was shockingly gentle.
I stiffened instantly. “You know nothing.”
“You can do what it takes too, Alexos!” Venya pressed, her dark eyes shining with a light that terrified me. “You just have to be willing to sacrifice one thing.”
“One thing?” I repeated, apprehensive.
Venya backed away into the shadows briefly, and I thought she had run away, before I heard the grunt, and a body was thrown in front of me.
I prepared to scream at what I thought was a corpse, but it wasn’t. It was alive. Hand bound by shackles, dark hair matted and face streaked with blood. Dark eyes that once smoldered with fire extinguished.
“You just have to exchange someone precious to you.” Venya said.
It was unmistakable. My heart seized in panic.
“Rivrin,” I breathed in horror.

Thank you for the tag @writing-with-melon! I also got tagged in this tag by @ladywithalamp so I figured I’d respond to the prompt here ^^.
Anyways, this isn’t the first ever line, but it’s one of the first in For the Lost!
You must think I’m a main character of these kinds of stories, a hero so to speak. Well, I’m definitely not a hero. Not to say I’m evil or anything. I guess you could say I walk a fine line between the two. We all do.

Hey folks! I decided to start my own tag!

This is for my WIP For the Lost.
Alexos: Percy Jackson (PJO & HoO)
Same chaotic powers and energy! The world would end if they met, especially with their powers and sassy attitudes. They both have trouble with their powers and who they are, and are missing father figures.
Rivrin: Levi Ackerman (SnK)
Same ‘I-don’t-know-what-I’m-doing’ older brother vibes, combat skill and look alikes. They have the same energy, but Rivrin is taller and more... well, out there. Alexos even mistakes Rivrin for Levi in a state of sluggish consciousness.
Coro Oshiro: Katara (AtLA)
They look alike and they care way too much sometimes. Is (un)knowingly the glue of the group. Can be very reckless and unapologetic. Last of their kind. Want me to continue?
Elias: Haru Nanase (Free!)
Cold and distant, somehow very attractive, putting up with a lot of bullshit 24/7, but deep down, we all know they care about their friends. Also, they both have an unhealthy obsession with something.
Rhea: Historia Reiss (SnK)
Sweet and loving on the outside, but scarred and holding secrets on the inside, Rhea instantly comes to mind when I compare her to Historia. They hide their true selves for the sake of safety for their friends and lover.
Shynah: Toph Beifong (AtLA)
This one was a bit harder, but I really think that overall, Shynah and Toph have a lot of similarities. Running away from home at a young age, down to earth attitude, short temper, no patience for bullshit, and unnaturally gifted at their craft.

Rules: Answer 12 questions as an OC, ask 12 questions and tag 12 people! I’ll be answering as my OC Coro from For the Lost!
1. What’s your favorite childhood memory?
“If anything, I’d have to say my favorite memory is my first sparring match with my mother,” Coro swings her feet back and forth from where she sits on the bench. “She completely demolished me, but it marked a new aspect of our relationship.”
2. What’s your love language?
“I’m not sure what you mean by that,” She says, looking towards the castle over the hill. “So I’ll guess. My family and I speak Arabic, and I associate my family with love, so I’d say Arabic.”
3. Are you an outdoors or indoors person?
“I am definitely more of an outdoors person,” Coro answers without hesitation. “I don’t really like being kept inside, so I’ve enrolled in all outdoors classes. That’s one of my favorite parts about this place.”
4. What do you love most about yourself?
“SHE LOVES HER FACE!”
“SHUT UP, RIVRIN!” Coro yells at the boy passing by, though she’s smiling.
“Um...” Coro scrunches her face up in thought. “I guess I love my personality the most?”
5. Who are you closest to?
“Oh, that’s easy,” Her grin is blinding. “Either Rivrin or Shynah. Those two are my greatest friends.”
You briefly remember the boy Rivrin. You have yet to meet Shynah. Thinking on it, you can see why Rivrin and Coro are close.
6. Do you have any hobbies?
“Not really,” she shrugs. “I mean, training and soccer kinda count, but those are things that are priorities. But I do enjoy horseback riding whenever I get the chance.”
7. What are you most scared of?
Coro draws her knees closer to her chest as she pondered the question. “Failing,” she says simply. “I’m also scared of whatever’s happening to everyone. My roommate disappeared last night.” Her face contorts in worry as she turns her gaze to the sun. “I hope she’s alright.”
8. Do you like to be active?
“Yeah, I do. It keeps my mind off of everything.” Coro answers, seemingly over her worry, at least for the moment. “It’s a good outlet and I’ve learned to stay in shape.”
9. What’s an interesting, obscure fact about you?
“Um...” she thinks for a moment before she answers, “I can write with my feet.” She wiggles her bare toes to emphasize. “It’s just something I did whenever I injured my hands to the point where I couldn’t move them.”
10. Do you like music?
“Music? Hell yeah,” She grins again, her dark eyes shining. “Really, I’ll listen to any genre. I’m not really choosy.”
11. Chocolate or vanilla?
“Chocolate.” She says as if it was obvious. “Is that even a question?”
12. What’s your favorite color and why?
“I don’t have a favorite color,” Coro says indifferently, looking briefly at her nails, free of nail polish and freshly trimmed. “I’ve never given it much thought up until now. I can get back to you about that if you want.”
After assuring her there’s no need, you gather your papers in one hand. You have everything you need.
“Oh! Sorry to cut this short, but I’m going to be late for Arabic!” Coro gathers her books hastily. “My break was over fifteen minutes ago! Do you know your way around campus?”
After a quick nod, she smiles and says, “Nice meeting you!” Before dashing off towards the castle in the distance.
