I'm so glad I followed you becuase the Thriving Series is honestly one of my favorite wips I've seen so far! Heck, it's one of my favorite sci-fi stories in general! While I'm still only at chapter three of the first book I'm already absolutely in love with it, I just love the diverse characters and the setting and the plot and the writing and literally everything else about it! And you're such an amazing person as well, I'm so happy to see you on my dash all the time!!

I’m just so....

...Can I get serious for a second? I planned to quit writing in December. You could ask my husband, he’ll confirm. I sat with him and I said “I don’t think I can keep going with this, it feels so pointless.” I knew that a couple of people, including him, love/really enjoy my books but it still didn’t feel like all of my effort was worth it. So I was gonna either completely quit or take a month-long break in December to re-evaluate.

I still may take a small break, but if I do, now it will be because I’d need to recharge my batteries, not because it doesn’t feel worth it. I fully acknowledge the few who’ve said they like my writing and I don’t want them to feel ignored but this particular ask has, for a reason I can’t quite discern as I’m running on less than four hours of sleep and still somewhat sick, made me realize it is worth it. Going on four whole years of this project is worth something because it’s someone’s favorite. I can’t even begin to describe what that’s like.

It doesn’t get the hundreds or even tens of notes that others’ works do but it’s SOMEONE’S FAVORITE. If the situation were reversed, I’d want the author to keep going. I can’t tell you how many times I’d wished a show that wasn’t so popular didn’t get canceled because I loved it, and the crushing disappointment it caused when it got taken off the air.

Basically, thank you so very much for this. I really, really needed this. And to the others who’ve said they love my books or even just like them at the bare minimum, thank you. I’m gonna keep trying to get them out there, I’m gonna keep going until I can finally say I’ve published them, and y’all are gonna get free copies of literally everything I ever publish from here on out.

Hmm... I guess I love that I can create complex, realistic characters... it’s probably the one thing that I am most complimented about...

🥞 - Talk about how much I love an OC of mine

Oh wow.... hmmmm 🤔

I guess I would have to pick WDH Sebastian. He’s really become one of my favorite characters. He has such a complex past and psyche and while he’s obviously flawed and has a long way to go, being able to take that journey with him is part of what makes writing Where Demons Hide so much fun. There aren’t too many characters that I’ve written where I get to show them at diff stages of their life to illustrate where they’ve been and where they’re going and how they’ve progressed (or not) over the years. (Kai of In/Exhale, my original serial story, is one other example.)

Over the course of the story the reader will have an opportunity (through flashbacks) to see Seb over the course of his childhood, starting at around 5-6 through to the present, so that’s almost 25 years of his history. It allows the reader to fully understand how he’s come to be who he is, and why he behaves the way he does. The challenge of having to think differently/write him differently depending on where we are on the timeline is really an interesting experience for me as a writer, and doing so has helped @luci-on-the-moon and I get futher insight into why he behaves and thinks as he does in the present.

I’m assuming that this means tell you about someone else’s WIP I’m excited about. There are quite a few, so I’ll pick 3 that I’m eagerly anticipating updates for the most right now. (All are Black Butler fan fics.):

Those Gentle Slopes... by @k-s-morgan . Hands down my favorite canon Kuro fic and one of my fave Kuro fics of all time. I’m always ranting about how much I love the interpretation of all the motivations and actions of Sebastian and Ciel. It’s almost a bit like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, where we get to see a lot of the “in between” and “behind the scenes” stuff you don’t see in the anime.

Revamp by @cielpansyhive . Tumblr is bloated with people trying to force LGBTQ+ identities on characters, but this fic really tries to do things right, and can be very relatable for all sorts of queer folks (and ofc cishet too). Aspects of it can be a really nice thing for those who may not have accepting partners, friends, family, etc, and I am very excited for the next update.

Blood Moon by @secretly-a-wuss. Surprisingly, Kuro doesn’t have a lot of vampire stories. This one takes the mystery/Sherlock Holmes elements that pervade the manga and blends it with vampires and werewolves in a very intriguing story. It’s only two chapters so far, but I’m hooked and pumped for more.
