I genuinely can't believe we are so close to the end of #NaNoWriMo2022 The write-ins with the @vegaswrimos at @starbucks and @panera and my personal favorite @joahboba have been a blast! We've had amazing conversations, learned new tips and tricks for surviving NaNoWriMo, and made some beautiful memories as well. Tonight I hosted my final Friday write-in of the month and I have to admit, I'm gonna miss this part of my routine. I still have @undercurrentbabes on Fridays (so sad my internet wouldn't let me log in for today's!) Battle of Words

Word wars.

People ask what they are, and how to do them. It’s simple really. Here’s the gist: you select an amount of time to write and you try to write as many words as possible in that allotted time. Then you share your word count for that war with whoever you’re warring.

Because NaNoWriMo has participants from around the world, a basic guideline was set for word wars. When selecting a time for the word war to start, people just leave off the hour. So instead of saying, “Going for 15 minutes at 2:05″ you simply say, “Going for 15 minutes at the :05.” 

In my time as a Wrimoer, word wars have saved my novel’s count more than once. They serve as fabulous motivation to write, and the best part is you’re not writing alone! With friends, strangers, and writers in general, a word war is a way to connect with like-minded wordsmiths.

Kind of like the online version of a write-in, which is a gathering a writers in a physical location to write and enjoy each other’s company. It’s a social experience...with productivity. What could be better?
