Perfect Camp NaNoWriMo prep Saturday! Started with Dungeons and Dragons - were in a pirate campaign that really gets me thinking! Who knows maybe it'll even inspire Zach to give camp a try! And then It was great meeting @joahboba to hear about everyone's projects and goals and plans! To see all your shiny faces and even get some words in! Tonight's Poetry Night @damroasthouse was a blast! It was great to share a stage with @zgraceann and it felt like a true, intentional full set 🤣 love it when things work out! Today is #NationalWriteDownYourStoryDay and if you're new around here, fun fact: I've been doing exactly that for over a decade. Nearly two decades. And I have two full length collections of poetry out in the world sharing that story. And a third one coming this fall. If you're an artist of any kind, you're already doing this as well. Even if you don't label yourself a poet, a painter, a doodler, a storyteller or a musician. And there is an amazing beauty in that. And, if you're not writing your story, I consider you to start. Maybe not for the world around you. Maybe not for future generations of your own family. Maybe not even for any reason in particular at all. But those stories and details could be life preservers for yourself at a later point. They might get scattered across the things you leave behind and inspire a stranger. They might even get lost and wander their way around a space you can't explore in the time a single lifetime offers you. Apparently I’m a smoke writer and this was really fun to see:

Love the challenge your comfort zone can’t give you. You are the mysterious person everyone has a crush on, the one that smiles in front of the storm and kneels in front of weak ones. And your writing reflects it. It charms everyone and, even if the exit door is there, your reader will never take it. You're the one who can take a trope, one so used that it's a clique, and create something completely new. Your work is breathtaking, emotions described so well they feel real, and characterization that makes your stories pop out between all the others.
