(YOI) How the Mighty Fall in Love - braveten

He reads every post once, twice, three times before sending it out to the world for his fans to properly devour.

New month, new fandom to explore! Yuri!!! on Ice (aka the anime that took the world by the storm last year) first came out last year, and instantly became one of the most popular fic tags on AO3 :) Speaking of fics, have you ever come across a fanfic that makes you wonder whether the author’s published yet? How the Mighty Fall in Love, written by @braveten (sideblog @actualyuuri) is one of those outstanding fics that are creative and outlandish enough to stand on its own as an independent work. The characters are taken from the anime/manga but the plot itself is entirely original.
The premise: Victor Nikiforov is one of the world’s most popular romance novel authors. KY is, well, the secret and reclusive other world’s most popular romance novel author. And what would you know, the connection they share leads to a romance that entertains just as much as the fictional novels they write promise to.
To cut to the chase: this fic is hilarious. And sweet, and romantic, and everything you’d want a Victuuri fic to be. The characterizations are spot on, and the lighthearted atmosphere of the fic really captures the essence of the anime despite taking place in an entirely different universe. In short, How the Mighty Fall in Love is a lovely read that I would recommend to any YOI fan. It’ll be sure to bring a smile to your face!
Summary: Every Victor Nikiforov fan has three things in common. 1. They have unrealistic expectations for romance. 2. They mark their calendars with the dates of his newest book releases and the premieres of his latest movie adaptations. 3. They either passionately hate or love his greatest rival, a mysterious author whose pseudonym is only two letters: “KY.”
