two hot ace reporters at the top of their game, there’s bound to be a little competition. but it’s friendly: they’re both professionals and know better to think that one woman’s success is always an upset of their own. ( especially in a male dominated field. ) it’s a rivalry with mutual respect.

vicki and lois attended graduate school together at columbia’s school of journalism ( or insert any prestigious school of your choosing ) lois was top of their class with vicki not far behind. they both took up an intership at the daily planet while still in school.

while lois later accepted the job offer from the planet, vicki felt herself overshadowed by lane and her relationship with superman, and decided to take an offer from the gotham gazette where she would soon live up to her full potential. she was as equally jealous of lois’s success as she was happy for her.

if vicki is in metropolis, or lois in gotham they try to meet for brunch to catch up and share stories of their respective adventures. when vicki had the career changing opportunity to cover the corto maltese revolution she asked lois’s opinion, who told her to take it.

injustice can go fuck itself now and always. i’m so mad that people love it. it’s like every other story where lois dies and clark goes mad: bullshit. she’s important to him but he can live life without her, he did for the first twenty five years of his life or whatever.

we know well enough that when clark loses someone he loves he spirals ---- he grieves, and he grieves hard. he blames himself because that makes sense to him; he has all of these abilities but he can’t guard those closest to him. you can say that it’s part of his naivety, his goodness that makes him keep these protective blinders on, that makes him think nothing bad can happen to those he cares about. when they’re broken, he shatters, yes, but eventually he gets back up. why? because he has to.

lois grounds him. she always has and she always will. she makes him human, but so does the rest of humanity. he doesn’t think he’s better than them, and he doesn’t want to control them. clark wants acceptance, and he wants to help make people better -- on their own terms. he would never pull a queen victoria and bring the whole world down with him when his most cherished dies. he’ll retreat, he’ll grieve, and he’ll think what would lois do?
