I just finished the first draft of my latest children's chapter book. It follows the loss of a relative during WWI and how Edna finds solace in a magical world, but the writing became very personal when I lost my own dad on Christmas day. The book has been very therapeutic to write and I hope it will be the same for my readers. New fairies, old faces and some very familiar villains appear. A drawing from my next Tooth Bearer book of the new fairy called Shilling. Here, both Shilling and Edna have been involved in a high-speed race to stop a gremlin. Available later this year and set in 1919, a young girl must come to terms with the loss of her uncle during WWI as she tries to fit into a new school after returning from Canada. She enlists the aid of the fairies of Cottingley but is soon hindered by the gremlins, known as Sharpclaw and Lenny, who are out to spoil Christmas for everyone. I am very excited about this project as a lot of my family's history is featured in this adventure, fun-filled read.
