@writesins dan heng said ”does this make you feel like you’re on the right path? was this worth it?” to kafka.
the guards of the jewelry store were now lying lifeless on the floor and thanks to silver wolf the security system has been completely shut off prior. dan heng’s presence was surprising and definitely wasn’t written in the script. his appearance must not be important so kafka was unbothered as she stepped over the bodies and to the cases. she grabbed what she needed and shoved them in the bag. “that’s an interesting question coming from you considering your past, don’t you think?” kafka had an extraordinary talent for manipulating the conversation in her favor. to divert the attention away from her and to someone else, driving the conversation on a different path entirely.
after getting what elio requested, kafka browsed through the store and took multiple things she liked as well as things she thought firefly would enjoy. “were you hoping joining the astral express crew would absolve you from what you’ve done in your previous life? especially what you did to poor bladie,” she cooed mockingly then laughed. “you should hear how he talks about you, the things he wants to do to you. it’s quite amusing, yet borderline annoying. if it didn’t interfere with our plans i would hand you over to him myself just so i could have some peace.” she had slowly made her way closer to dan heng, the two only inches apart now. her smile was relaxed, as if the two were friends and she was merely giving him advice. “my point is, maybe it’s you who should be questioning whether you feel like you’re on the right path after all.”
in a smooth motion she reaches behind him and smashes the glass case, swiping a dainty necklace she’s been eyeing. after doing a once over of everything she begins to back away. “you don’t mind cleaning this up for me, do you? or leave it, i don’t really care. but hey, give everyone on the express my best regards, especially that lovely navigator of yours.” she winks then laughs like she knows something he doesn’t before disappearing into the night. kafka makes one last stop; the astral express. she slips into himeko’s room leaving the pretty, dainty necklace on her vanity with no note before slipping right back out again.
