Just as an update I’m working on the next chapter but something came up so it might be a little later than I expected it to be. I mean we’re already on Thursday and I haven’t finished it yet. I got my computer back so that’s good, finished some art I had to do and did some video editing for a friend’s youtube channel. I’m also supposed to finish my portion in the DeanCas summer mini bang thing (just doing art for one story). So yeah, that’s what I’ve been up to.
I’m like a quarter way into the next chapter but I want it to feel right and I’ve been struggling to find the best direction for it. I’m angling for this one to be a relaxing time for them as they watch their debut on Hipster Queens.
I've reached 2 of my SMART Goals!
I’ve reached 2 of my SMART Goals!
When I wrote my goals for WordPress 201 in July I set three specific goals. I wasn’t sure how many followers I could expect but I set my sights high and put 300 by the end of 2015. I have already exceeded that goal. I’ve blogged nearly every day and will have no problem reaching my third goal.
What are your goals?

On Thursday, October 11, 2012, we will devote time for mid-semester course evaluations. Because the online evaluation has a time limit, I have listed the questions below.
I encourage you to type your answers ahead of time, email them to yourself, and copy and paste your answers into the text fields. The sooner we finish the evaluations, the faster we can discuss Twain's "Carnival of Crime." Of course, if you want to finish the evaluation early, you can complete it over this weekend.
The link to Martin Luther King's "Letter from a Birmingham Jail" is now linked in Blackboard Readings. Also, please read up on King's life. I suggest using the Encyclopedia Britannica, a database available through our library's web site.
I corrected the syllabus: Michael Harrawood's handout is in Handouts, not Readings. Thanks to Patricia for correcting me.
Also, I updated a few upcoming assignments in October, switching dates and adding some more online components for our Thursday computer lab assignments.
Please download and re-read the assignments for revised tasks: http://sbuwrt102-12-fall2012.tumblr.com/syllabus
If you have any questions, please email me.
William B. Bradshaw offers some advice on specificity of language, a strong complement to our reading from Strunk and White. Check it out!
Thursday: Twitter project
On Thursday, both class sections will meet in their respective computer labs for a workshop, on using social media such as Twitter to improve upon concise writing, note-taking, and essay outlining.
To facilitate this project, I want all students to set up new Twitter accounts in the following format: [Your Initials, two or three letters]WRT102. For example, my account would be DMWRT102 or DSMWRT102. If, however, your account is taken, feel free to vary this account name, so long as it is easily identifiable--again, using my name as an example, DerekMWRT102, DSMcGWRT102, and other names are all acceptable, so long as I can easily figure out who is who.
As well, we will use the hash tag #WRT102 to make it easier to compare our projects.
Please email these Twitter names by Thursday morning. I have updated the syllabus with this assignment.
PS Everyone must read and take notes not only on Thursday's reading but yesterday's reading from Mengetsu. If even one student did not take notes on the reading and does not bring those notes to class, there will be a quiz assigned. And re-read Mengetsu for class discussion.
