Me, approaching my writing deadlines with focus
@ the anons voicing their frustrations about the other anon, I do see your messages and understand your frustration toward them. I’m only not posting them since I’d rather avoid a long discussion on the topic on this blog, it’s not really the place for it.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, editing the tags on a post rarely takes me much time. Deleting something offensive takes even less time. I understand people find humor in different things and may be frustrated to find certain names taken down but it’s not worth it, it’s just not.
On another subject
I hate to do this guys but stuff is so busy rn and my inbox isn’t slowing down. Therefore I am TEMPORARILY closing it until I can get some time to clean out the wall of submissions. If you find names, take pics or write them down in a notebook or what have you, I’ll make another announcement when it’s open up again.
If you need to contact me about taking down a name or tagging it: Please either message the blog via the messenger system OR send me an ask on my main @ceata88

5 : Do you write better with or without deadlines? 16 : Would your story work better as a movie or tv show? Why? 17 : Do you make soundtracks for each story?
5. I don’t like deadlines that are imposed on me – does anyone? – so I have a very strong system of internal deadlines. So, for example, if I get an external deadline of December 15th, I set my own for something like December 1st, and that way, I feel more intrinsically motivated to Do The Thing. That helps me a lot: it makes me feel more in control of the deadline, and therefore inspired by it rather than anxiety-ridden about it.
16. Oh my! LUNAV would probably be better as a film than a TV show, is my impression; but I’ll be curious to know what other people think! As for my fan fiction, I mean hey listen, if anyone wants to shove that stuff into TV shows that already exist *cough cough* Supergirl *cough cough* would I complain? Nope.
17. Oohhhhh yes. Well, take it back a second: not every fan fiction. I write too many mini-fics for that. But for longer works, absolutely: music is a crucial part of my writing experience, almost always.
Got more for me? ;)
Hi there, I was wondering if you have any advice on how to make an internal deadline work? Cause when I set a deadline for myself I see it as a fake deadline so I just keep the actual very scary mandatory deadline in mind and it stresses me out. So I was wondering whether that’s ever happened to you and how to deal with that if you have any advice? Thanks either way, you’re awesome
This is such an important question, and it’s totally, totally happened to me! You’re definitely not alone in this.
Honestly, it takes a lot of developing self-trust to have this be an effective deadline method. For me, I often do my best to physically not remember the actual deadline: which can be hard, for example, when you’re in school and everyone is talking about it. But, on the flip, it always feels really great to be done so far ahead of time: having that experience once or twice really gives me fuel for the future. It became a pleasurable thing, after it worked out for me once or twice.
Stimulating that reward-seeking response in myself was most effective when I was practicing with external deadlines that didn’t stress me all that much: for example, I loved bio so much that biology tests were actually kinda fun for me in college (nerd alert!!!!). So, I would study super early and be totally ready; and then it would be fun to be able to help my friends study when they started to. That set up a positive association with internal deadlines, and helps me keep them even now.
So, possibly try to find a mandatory deadline that doesn’t bother you all that much – maybe it’s even a basic homework assignment in a class you love, or something you really want to get done anyway – and practice with that, you know? If that’s not working out for you, feel free to pop back on and we can brainstorm more together: I believe in you, and I know you’ve got this!!

Historical novelist and creative nonfiction author Jessica McCann answers two questions from aspiring writers in this five-minute video. You said when you’re writing a book, you should take time to get it right. But how do you take your time when you’re on a deadline?Do you set daily word count goals to get your book written?

I want to keep reading Modern Love by @tackytigerfic because it’s just too good to put down, but I’m on a deadline and I need to at least write another 3000 words today. I wish I could stop time and just finish those last two chapters and still have plenty of time to get back on track with my writing.
