4, 8 and 13 for greasepaint! :D
YES!!! i love Greasepaint - okay, let’s rock and roll.
4) What’s your favorite line of dialogue?
EVERYTIME OIKAWA SINGS! or
A beat later, he turned to Suga. “Okay, Mr Refreshing, start slow and then … keep up!”
or this exchange because it’s kind of throwaway in the fic, but sets so much of my canon for IwaOi
“Yeah. I was a bad tempered kid in those days.”
Tooru bit his lip. He was desperate to reply, to laugh and mock that really Iwa-chan hadn’t changed at all because he was always shouting, always in a bad temper about something, but he resisted because he Iwaizumi had a wistful look in his eye.
“Everyone ran a mile. But you just laughed at me,” Iwaizumi said at last. “Even when I punched you.” Letting his head roll back, he stared at the ceiling. “Tobio reminds me of me, ‘cept he wasn’t lucky enough to have a friend to laugh him out of his temper.”
“NO YOU WILL!” Iwaizumi shouted, and taking several breaths, he released him. “I will help you. I will be by your side. I will prompt. I will coach. I will even learn the fucking guitar so I can accompany you if that’s what it takes. But you will get on that stage and you will show that fucker that you can do this.” He glared at everyone, not just Oikawa, before returning his attention to Kageyama. “Now, Kageyama-kun, have you got that?”
and there’s a whole load of Saeko lines, but I’d be here all day.
8) Did any real people or events inspire any part of it?I’ve been in a few pantomimes, and the one I was in last year used the song Happy, so that’s why it’s in here. Coincidentally, it also used Holding Out for a Hero, too, but I’d already written the Oikawa scene before I started rehearsing. Last minute cast changes are based on my own experiences. Last year, I was asked to take on a part with three weeks to go. It was quite small, so there were no real problems for me, but it’s nerve wracking for the cast when they don’t think they have everyone in place. Also the last quote above is kind of based on McGonagall telling Harry she’ll do everything in her power to get him into Auror training.
13) What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?
I listened to the Jennifer Saunders version (it’s where she’s the Fairy Godmother in Shrek 2) of Holding out for a Hero pretty obsessively as I wrote the first few chapters. And also Happy. Recommended music list is the cast songs soPart of your WorldHolding Out for a HeroIt’s Raining MenI’m a BelieverHappyShe’s the Oneand (sneak preview of the last chapter - Shake It Off)
