my operatic hot take is that russian operas are the best ones. which is a controversial opinion to have on tumblr where most opera fans are team italian or team french operas.

Honestly, I need to dive deeper into Russian opera beyond Eugene Onegin. (Like, I've heard/watched several once or twice, but never really dug in to others.) And while I don't think they will ever supplant Italian opera in my heart, I'm entirely ready to accept their superiority to French. If you sent me links to a few things to listen to today while I'm writing, I would listen to them.
