First & Last Lines

Fair warning, both of these are for The Last Time, because that’s my only current WIP  for better or worse lol. @lightninginabottle0613, I guess you’re getting an excerpt hahaha.

First 3 lines of the next chapter:

“Are we sure this is a good idea?” Gendry asks as they stumble into his bedroom.

Arya pulls back from where she was sucking a hickey into his neck and fixes him with an exasperated look. As if she expected this.

“It’s not like I haven’t touched a man before.”

Last 3 lines I’ve written for this bitch:

He looks down at the screen to see Arya’s name displayed with a message that would normally send his heart soaring – if you plan to blindfold me on our way to wherever we’re going, I request fair warning – and though an unconscious smile still tugs on his lips, it does nothing to alleviate the weight of his sister’s words. 

It does force him to look at the time and he quickly realizes that he’ll be late picking her up if he doesn’t get a move on.

Gendry sets his phone on the counter, takes another long pull from his water bottle, and heads to the bathroom, leaving Arya’s message unanswered.

Do you have any advice with planning your writing out? Trying to start writing a script for university and struggling to get it planned out

yeah! I answered this similarly here

I will add on though, that sometimes it’s better to just start writing vs planning. You’ll feel a lot better when you start to get words out on a page! Would also recommend figuring out the best way to divide up your ideas for the plot, you can do that by dividing up your plot or ideas by the acts/beats, or it can be less organized, literally anything that helps you just get your ideas out cause it’s different for everyone. I personally try to get out all the details I can at the moment, just listing them or categorizing by what it is (character, plot, setting) and then I start digging deeper into each section.

No joke speaking of our own different writing experiences and creative outlets, I have a story in mind (not a Fic but a full blown original story) with Tom as the male muse and I keep saying I’m going to pursue it but imposter syndrome really likes to chime in when I feel like going for writing

completely understandable fbnfndjd motivation in general is so hard and it sucks it say it cause it’s easier said than done but you just gotta write it even if it’s shit also i am telling you that you got this🫶even writing a sentence is fucking awesome

this might be a stupid question but as someone who is also an aspiring screenwriter, how do you write scripts?? i have so many ideas for stories and stuff but no idea where to start

omg not stupid at all I’d love to help n all! I think that’s really dependent on the writer cause we all have different writing processes that work for us and im honestly still figuring out my own because a lot of scripts I’ve written for classes and such are done in different ways than I would if it was smth I did in my lonesome.

Outlining is always good, that can be done in a variety of ways so it’s just about finding what works for you :) writing down like the major plot points for each act of the film, making sure you hit the beats of the climax and etc. etc. even outlining your main characters can help! Sometimes I make like a Pinterest board for the vibe as well so I have some visuals to think of and get me going.

but I’d also recommend fully free writing like just get all the ideas out of your head and onto the page (written out in like paragraph format not script) this also helps your brain warm up to actually write the script!

Because once you get your ideas down, your brain can actually pick it apart! Also keep in mind you don’t have to start from the beginning, if there’s a particular scene or moment in the story you’re really focusing on, write that first! And your first draft or two are gonna be bad like a script is gonna need a lot of edits so it’s best to just write it and then go back once you’re all done. Would also recommend reading scripts of films you like, just to get a sense of formatting and story structure, etc.

There’s no exact place on where to start with these things IMO, it really varies from writer to writer and it might take some trial and error to see what works for you.

also if you need any help with script format, writerduet is a good site to use, it has a subscription but you can use it for free and get all the basic things you need :)

3. Do you have a favorite scene you’ve written from [Doe in the Middle] story/chapter?

Well the scene with [redacted] [redacted] and [redacted] with a sockpuppet.

But nah for real, i really just like getting to write scenes where the three of them get to be open with each other. It's really nice seeing each getting to be vulnerable in their own unique way and working towards overcoming their collective insecurities.

Also really enjoyed the scene in Chapter One where Kris finds out about Noelle's Kindle habits. Oh and the scene in Chapter Two where Kris teaches Noelle about that fun little thing you can do with your neck.

5. Do you listen to music when writing?

TBH i am an author who needs minimal outside stimuli so i don't really listen to music unless i'm writing with my GF in which case it's usually soft instrumental music (as lyrics are distracting).

13. When did you start writing fanfic?

Back in 2012/13 i used to do RPs on a MLP character account (it's not this account and is dead). Eventually got bored of RPing and just decided to flesh out the stories myself.

39. What area of writing do you feel strongest in?

Honestly, my dialog. i've always taken a lot of pride in my dialog and though it's really good.

4) What is your favourite genre to write for?

Honestly, I can’t focus on a single genre.I’d say the over-arching genre of Yeehaw and my shorter stories is probably action.

Though, for my fanfics since that’s what the initial post’s about, it’d fit best into iyashikei  because it was almost exclusively Phluff 

15) If you write OC’s, how do you decide on their names? 

I have written so many characters because a name came to mind once and I decided the next character I made would take that name -  Alistair McKay, Caius Morton, Lianne Sumner, Oscar Bradford.

Just below that it’s named my friend’s names cut up and stuck together - Jacob Lord, Cameron Woolstencroft, Julier Coates, and Gina Roye.

And occasionally I call someone something sarcastically and it sticks - Yeehaw Bitch and Henry Sillyname.
