Our mornings always start with a healthy breakfast and our Bible story from #southwestadvantage, followed by scripture reading. Fridays are our "non-core" school day. This is when we learn art, coding etc, or go to do something fun. It's a great way to end the week! Today we did a lesson on Paper Folding! This old school curriculum book is SUPER outdated, but that's okay! Its perfect for us because it was FREE! I just add in the missing info as we go, example: when explaining all the art forms out there it didnt list Digtal Art, but that's okay! I just added my own little commentary about it and we kept on reading! As you can probably tell, I'm going to be focusing on #homeschool on my page for a while here. Knowing there are many parents out there starting this journey, I want my page to give #encouragement for the parents and kiddos who are just starting out and ideas for anyone who needs them. We need to remember not to fall into the "pinterest" home school traps. Pinterest is a great tool but all the ideas can be overwhelming and cause for major over planning and little action. My advice is to try to pick things that are of interest to everyone, especially if you have multiple age groups. Some times it seems like the 4 year old is not understanding what we are reading about and then he asks the best questions of all and starts us off on great on topic conversations! While my Big is doing #math, or doing her #writingassignments, the Little and I will do something on the same track but built for his age group, that's where pinterest is my best friend. Happy homeschooling my friends! https://www.instagram.com/p/CFAJmf1FWd5/?igshid=ev41j9kgbvwr
I Admire You
Everyone has someone they admire. I recently had to opportunity to hear Tony Nicely, the CEO of GEICO speak and he really inspired me. “Life is too short to work in any company where you cannot be happy”-Tony Nicely Mr. Nicely is from a small town in West Virginia and despite his struggles early in life, he considers himself “the luckiest man alive”. He was down on his luck and struggling…

Dear Diary...
Dear Diary…
Day 187 in The Squirrel Wars My human host (I know her as “Mom”) still has no idea of my true identity. I continue to play the doting dog by night and take up my real duties when she leaves for this thing she calls “work”. Today, when she let me outside to “go potty” (so demeaning!) I saw one of Dr. Squirrel’s minions. Unfortunately, I was unable to act since Mom was home. I barked as a warning…

ds106 Assignment: Can you vacuum a sidewalk?
ds106 Assignment: Can you vacuum a sidewalk?
I decided to attempt the Dream It… Write It assignment from the ds106 website. To complete this assignment you had to choose a dream that you have had and write about it in detail. I decided to choose this dream that I had in 7th grade about my French Teacher. Mostly, because I can’t believe that at age 29 I still remember this dream and I really don’t understand it. I decided I was going to…

What’s in a name?
The name is Isanberg. Not Eisenberg,
My grandfather was born with the last name Eisenberg. He married, had kids, got unmarried and joined the Army.
When he left the service, they spelled his name wrong. Hence, Isanberg was born. He married again, had five more children, including my father.
Hence, my last name is Isanberg. Not Eisenberg.
Not Heisenberg either.
(That’s a pic of a random guy dressed as Heisenberg. Not me.)
Response 4 - Practice from Everyday Life
Response to “Practice from Everyday Life” by James Goggin. Notable sentence: "This discourse is essential for graphic design, and can ideally prodivde critical viewpoints from which to consider the discipline and its position(s) in wider cultural and social contexts." SPECIFIC LABORS OF MY DESIGN PRACTICE studying sketching working grocery shopping playing music pen tool text boxes photo editting typographic analysis programming going to class paying attention in class sleeping reading eating netflix LABORS SEEN SO FAR IN MY THESIS PROJECT sketching On some sort of level I sketch out everything before it hits the screen, be it in my head or on paper or whatever. I think of sketching as a work of translation, translating what I want to say from words to graphics. photo editing I had to edit and resize like six million things for that one book first semester. It was arduous but fun. I did it again for the Botnick Iterations, and that was fun too. pen tool The pen tool is like the dopest shit man. I never have a bad time with the pen tool. programming I messed around with an app for a project first semester so I guess I can include this. I love programming, it's like another language. Communication dude. sleeping I sleep probably like 40% of the time I'm doing anything so it def deserves a shout-out. working I go to work anywhere from 10-40 hours a week, and if I didn't my designs would not only be different; they'd be worse. I think it's good to keep grounded. I'm not some sort of crazy design-minded theorist, I'm just a dude. Who needs beer money. And rent. reading Reading's super cool. I think part of my interest in graphic design stems from an appreciation for written communication. Makes your head spin a different direction for awhile. I'm counting assigned readinds and read-for-fun type stuff. LABORS THAT I COULD TRY OUT what are some other crazy things I could do paying attention in class I guess I could try that. playing music I play a lot of guitar and stuff but I never really tried to tie it back to my thesis project. reading I'm getting a lot from these essays and I think it's important to take another look at written works. I've started to establish a line between what I see as interesting discourse and what I see as off the wall arrogant designer bullshit. The second one isn't 'fun' for me, it's work, working on looking like I know what I'm talking about.
