I love how “Yuu and the Power of Magic” by writingerror, one of the first and probably the most famous twst x hp crossover fanfics, has practically become a fandom of its own. I saw that Ao3 that it’s tagged as fandom with a good handful of fics inspired by it.
Heyy! So… I finally decided to give a try and write something here! 🥹
This is my first post and my first attempt at writing in English (please be patient with me, English is not my first language 🙏).
I’ve been absolutely obsessed with “Yuu and the Power of Magic” by @writingerror on AO3. If you don’t know it, it’s an amazing fic where our dear Yuu is from the harry potter universe and gets thrown into Twisted Wonderland! The whole backstory and plot are just *chef’s kiss*.
It inspired so much that I wanted to share some of my thoughts about it. Soooo here are some of my personal headcanons!!
Childhood:
Yuu’s speech and language development were delayed as a kid due to the lack of adults that actually talked to her.
Her social-emotional development was compromised (as well) by neglect and inconsistent care that she had been exposed to.
She was basically raised by her neighborhood. All her clothes and toys as a kid were donated by the local church (which she went to eat when she couldn’t at home).
I like to think that Yuu wasn’t afraid of heights at all when she was little. In fact it was a common sight to see her climbing trees and shelves to reach what she wanted.
Yuu often hid herself inside willow trees to avoid other kids her age.
the local librarian had to start a little notebook to write down just the books that Yuu took out (it was a too large amount to be put in the normal one).
Her vocabulary is enormous.
She used to sleep under the small table on her living room with a bunch of blankets. ( I think this one is canon??)
Yuu loved to watch every movie possible on the DvD’s that the local library had.
Due to the lack of attention it was paid to her she ended up reading/watching things that were DEFINITELY not for her age. (Watching LesMisérables at 8 years old was not a great experience).
Her hands are COLD. (Malnutrition and all that).
She refuses to use umbrellas. The feeling of rain on her skin makes her feel present.
Her tendency to stare out into space creeps people out.
Yuu always felt watched at home( she swears that the portraits on the wall have their eyes on her).
Her dad used to disappear from time to time… she didn’t really know why.
This one is a little horrible. Her mom has been under the imperium curse since she had Yuu.
Yuu has many different marks on her back. Most of them are runes.. courtesy of her father of course.
While Yuu lived for a while with her grandmother, she went through many “good-manners” classes since she was horrified by her granddaughter lack of social understanding.
Yuu has always liked music. She once found an old record player and has been collecting vinyls since then.
Pre-storyline:
When Yuu finally received her hogwarts letter she felt like one of her book characters.
Professor McGonagall was the one that took eleven year old Yuu to Diagon Alley to get her school supplies. (She knew better than expect Yuu’s father to do so).
Even though Yuu describes her experience at Hogwarts by not having any friends there, that was often a misunderstanding of the situation on her part. (Often needing verbal confirmation of the friendship).
Yuu ended up finding the Room of Requirement after reading about it.
She started to study a lot about arts and music during 2nd year.
Due to her lack of creativity, Yuu often makes recreation of paintings or portraits of people she knows.
She learned the basics of piano after she started singing in the school choir.
Yuu had the habit of wandering on the forbidden forest (much to her dorm prefects displeasure).
The bullying PTSD is HEAVY. Like anxiety attack type of heavy. (Nobody would be normal after all she went through be so fr rn).
During her internship with dragons her hair got burnt many times. (She is a master at handling fire now tho).
Since she used to take care of baby dragons I believe that their parents really liked her presence (I doubt that they would let her anywhere near them otherwise).
It doesn’t matter the animal, she WILL try to pet it.
She deeply believes the things she lived through until now are normal.
She has a collection of miniature dragons that she made with some trinkets.
… So this is probably a mess, but thanks for reading if you did!! Remember, English isn’t my first language, so please be kind 🙏💕
(There’s so much to add to what I wrote but I just can’t remember anything else omfg. )
