Revision vs. Editing -- why does it matter?
Stephen King says, you have to kill off your darlings ... in other words, revision is so much more than simply changing a word or a phrase!
Using Nancy Sommers' articles to help you respond, please generate a response about what revision is and and where it fits in the writing process. You might consider why revision is so important to "good" writing. You might also do a detailed list or exploration of the differences between revision and editing. As writers, we tend to be more comfortable with editing, why do you think so? Why do not learn how to properly revise in high school (i.e. effective, rhetorical revision)? How can you build what you did learn before (your prior knowledge about revision) to become a better reviser?
The goal of this post is for you to think through and think about the importance of revision, it's representation within the writing process, and what it means to you as writer.
Responses to Peers: pick 2 peers and respond to how do your peers understand revision? What did they miss? What did they get right?
