Playing Dead
She liked to play dead She never said why Just that she liked to play dead
She did that often Often enough To make the act convincing
Fooling people more than twice
Her game was morbid Just like her fascination with the subject More was that
She could make light of it
They asked her if something's wrong Wondered if she needed to see a doctor Or if her game was some odd trance
She denied any of this
She just liked to play dead And revelled in the fact that It scared people
More when she dressed herself so lovely
Ironically, she hated funerals Yet, she had little qualms Adding this layer of her game
That scared people more
The "funerals" were benign Sometimes, her game required "murder" And she played the victim
In a gruesome crime scene
No one could sort out why She did this or why She had this peculiar fascination
But they were disturbed
Disturbed by her game Disturbed by her morbid fascinations And especially disturbed by
How convincing she was
At playing dead.
