I am writing to you on concern that most students going to Palmer’s college don’t know about the fitness centre it has, its facilities, who works there or even what it’s doing this week. There are no marketing material around the classrooms, hallways or the cafeteria, where students would spend most of their time in. So how would students find out about what’s going on at the fitness centre without having to go there themselves? I’ve noticed gyms like Everyone Active, their site is made to the customer’s advantage: if they want to change the text size they can, if they want to navigate easily to another bit of the site they can, they can find their nearest centre and even keep up with their social Medias to find out on the latest news. There’s also the fact that the target audience is hard to detect, from some posters it would be old female.

I would like to propose three ideas our group have thought of to help students know more about the fitness centre in their own college, my first idea is about making new posters; flyers and handouts which would show all the sports offered.; sticking to the colour blue with the college logo; recommendations from customers, and including how much a session would cost. Adding more colour to the gym itself, when we walked around the gym we noticed that if it was crowded then it would be horrible for claustrophobic people. There also wasn’t much colour to the room it stayed the dreary grey matching the machinery which wouldn’t give the people going the most enthusiasm to want to get fit. Instead it would be better to brighten up the walls with possibly some motivational, fitness posters with catchphrases like “the secret to reaching your fitness goals is getting started”. These would motivate the people working out at the gym or they might even make them come again if they love the phrase being used. In the marketing material being used we want to add pictures of the gym we have taken ourselves to show the students where they would be working out if they chose to go. Our second idea is on using cartoon, still life on the marketing material whether online or paper versions and using them as mascots for the sports centre, possibly using them in animations for any video adverts created. Along with this we wanted to add some social medias where the students would be able to connect easily, even at home whereas when they’re at college we wanted to add posters around the college, like in the cafeteria; classrooms; hallways, where students are most likely to be. To finish the deal and make sure students are almost sick of the sports centre and become jealous of the people going then want to go themselves: we wanted to add a section to the inPrint newsletters for the gym, like what would be going on this week.  This way students wouldn’t have to go the gym itself to learn what’s going on there, all last minute when they could easily find out earlier by more marketing material being present.

Our third idea goes along with making a blog for the gym on Tumblr, this would work best for students since they would spend most of their free time scrolling Tumblr but it would also work as the gym’s own website where it would be easier to find out the latest updates instead of spending ages trying to find it on the Palmer’s college website. There’s even a playlist with over 25 songs for people to listen to whilst working out. Alongside the blog there can be a newsletter that people can subscribe to which is all about the gym, this can include the latest marketing material on what’s going on this week. At the top of the Tumblr page there is a search bar where visitors would be able to search for classes; anything specific they want to find and it would provide them with relevant posts that have tags to what they have searched for, so it would be easier for them to navigate where to find what they want. There are also tabs at the top to find out the different pages these would make it easier to navigate around the blog, like the homepage; what’s going on now?; classes; opening times; membership; what we (as the sports centre) offer and how to contact the gym. All three of us have made a new logo each for you to choose from so it wouldn’t be linking with Palmer’s college too much as this gave off the confusion that you would have to be going to the college to go to the gym, in addition to that we have agreed on the new slogan of “one heart, one chance, make it count” to use on the new marketing material or even on the motivational posters that would be made to go around the inside of the gym to make the customers want to get fit and use the facilities more often. I want to build upon children's natural curiosity of the world, collect oddities and quirks, and make a book that will amuse and encourage them to seek answers to all the strange questions in their heads.

The age group I'm aiming for is 3-6 years. I want it to be a book both parents and their child will enjoy reading, and inspire them marvel at the world – together.

  Hello! My name is Miouo (aka Niccolea M Nance). My best friend Dovid Smith and I will be embarking on a worldwide sailing trip with a tentative departure date of June 1, 2013. We are soliciting participants to be a part of our goal of enriching world community.

    What need is being addressed?

  In today's world there is so much violence and war that anything that could spread positivity is so greatly needed. Even the smallest way to bring people together will do so much towards healing the global society. This is what we hope to achieve.

  We have started with ourselves. Dovid is a Jew of European American descent and I am a Christian of African American descent. We met when we were coworkers at a major Fortune 500 company and found that we had much more in common than what would keep us apart so we became the best of friends. We are starting with our own friendship as an example of what can be achieved when the boundaries of differences are over reached.

  We are not simply tourists, but people truly interested in the history and people of the places we will visit. We are reaching out now to get to know people in the countries we will be stopping in. We are sharing our experiences with the world wide web in order to reach as many people as possible.

  So we are hoping to be another positive thing that will bring people together. We will link all the people following our journey together in a form of unity that has the chance to build world wide community. The word "Emuna" means "Faith" in Hebrew. This journey is a step out on faith that there are enough people in the world who want to connect in peace to make this possibility a reality.

    How will our objective be accomplished?

The need of adding community and unity to human kind internationally is very important so that we can be one step closer to the dream of world peace and cooperation. We suggest that a personal international meet and greet would be a good way to address this need.

  Quite simply our goal of unity and community will be accomplished in all of our activities. The very act of two very disparate people traveling together in and of itself is a part of that. Each person who finds us online and chooses to keep track of our journey and via online groups to interact with each other is another step. Every person who meets us at port and shows us (and our youtube and blog audience) their city and country is yet another part of that.

  With the high goals and aspirations we have for this trip... there are details that we have to address... Who is going to work on this goal? What will we need? How will we measure if we are meeting our objective?

For now it's mostly Dovid and me working on this project... each person who "tunes in" and becomes part of the online/virtual crew then becomes a part of the over all process as well.

  What equipment and/or facilities will be required?

For now the boat is the primary facility. We may also stay at hostels to add to the experience and cultural exchange. As for equipment, we will need to have a laptop and high definition digital camera with video capacity and computer storage so we can be sure to back up all of the blog entries we type up and any of the video we record at sea before hitting port.

  How will we measure if we are meeting our objective?

Our objective is community so the measure is how many people we reach. The easiest measurement of reaching is the online presence: views of videos, new follows on tumblr and twitter, new likes and group members on facebook, number of messages and thread comments in any online forum. There is also the face to face interaction. Our impact can be measured in the number of people we can actually reach in person. Our hope is to find at least one person in each port who can then bring us to an event where we can experience the local culture and reach even more people.

What do supporters get out of participating?

For corporate/commercial supporters, we could do many things in exchange for financial support. We could wear logo clothing in our videos and photos. We could make special commercials to say before our videos. Or companies could provide us with 10-15 second ads that we could add to the beginning of our videos. We could sell ad space on the sail if needed. If we are donated equipment we can feature those items prominently in photos and videos.

For the individual crowd source supporters we would have different "sailor swag" items ranging from bookmarks and logo buttons to a collection of sands from our stops. We could even mention people in our videos. When we have a website up and running we could list financial supporters, and we can add that list to the existing online profiles that have room for it.

We truly believe that this journey will be a wonderful way to spread light and peace in the world. These are high and lofty ideals to be sure. The ideals are deeply abstract perhaps, but still very much worth the effort to be a part of a bigger and better world. We hope that you will join us in this pursuit. Working Title: Epitaph

 Synopsis:

Dates, People, Memories and Emotions all converge in to a beautiful mess of images and sounds as we look back on the past. The transgression into the labyrinth within everyone’s own mind with the objective of catharsis can offer other terrible things. Epitaph is an experimental film without any traditional narrative. Through montage, voice over monologues and ambient sound design, I hope to offer an audience a unique empathy that cannot be constructed through normal narrative.

 What makes this project unique?

Through non-linear narrative and visuals and minimal storytelling I intend to create a unique and thought provoking experience. With the intention to evoke emotions and make the viewer empathize with the feelings I’m trying to convey without the use of any real “characters”

 What are you hoping to learn?

I want to learn more about myself as a filmmaker and what I will want to create in my future and my own style. Also I would like to learn more about the video editing process.

 How will this project extend you skills?

In this project I am going to take this opportunity to try different ways of editing for example montage. As well as trying out new lenses and filters.

By using this film as a kind of show reel of what I can do I intend to use it as a point of advertising myself as a filmmaker.
