Of all the things she expected Harmonyâsweeter than honey Harmony, brilliant, inventive, introverted Harmonyâto say, this was not one of them. Not with midterms fast approaching, not when they were both swamped with academics and their respective extra-curriculars, and definitely not as sheâs about to head home after getting the âcurfewâ alarm on her phone.
(No, the âcurfewâ alarm wasnât something someone else imposed on herâshe imposed it upon herself. Itâs easier to knock academics out of the way if sheâs able to hole herself up in her room for three to five hours before dinner.)
But the outburst was unexpected enough for her to pause as sheâs gathering her things, her bullet journal halfway inside her bag while her pencil case remained to be the only belonging she had left on the floor of Harmonyâs bedroom.
âWeâre both busy,â she began, brows furrowing as she tried to decipher where this came from. âAnd itâs not like we can do anything about the fact, not unless you expect me to take a gap year in high school of all times.â The younger brunette didnât mean that, did she?
She hoped not; sheâd be a senior in high school next year, and after that, sheâs off to uni. Taking a gap year would delay that, and she refused to delay anything in her ten-year plan.
(Even at the risk of hurting one of her friends.)
