Should one write a GO fanfic?

spoiler: yes, if one wants to

Me: The book is over 30 years old, the show is two years old, there won’t be any future installments (most likely), big part of the fandom has moved on, if I keep my current pace the fic won’t be done until 2024, all the tropes I’m using had been done hundreds and hundreds of times, there’s very little story, just messy narration filled with headcanons to the brim and none of them are new, English isn’t even my first language. Who on Earth will want to read it?

Also me: Don’t you keep reading GO fanfics on a daily basis? 

Also also me: Don’t you enjoy reading new GO fanfics with the same tropes? In fact, aren’t you actively searching for specific tropes you like even though you’ve already read dozens of similar stories?

Also also also me: Aren’t you enjoying writting it?

Also also also also me: Don’t you want to read it? In fact, isn’t one of the reasons you’re writing so slowly the fact that you keep rereading it yourself?

Me: Okay, it seems like I’m outnumbered...

I'm on the fucking page 81 and have only the bones of a story and setting

No one told me making stories felt more like a puzzle than anything else 😭

It's like: "oh! I could change this, but then I would have to change that and that, which would also change..."

And it's not only that, because I also have to design the characters and setting in like, a visual way...
