FRIEND, You’ve read a thousand different stories ( and more ), Within pages you’ve discovered worlds ( and magic ). Though you are petite, your heart is wide ( and endless ), You’ve found forgiveness when most turned a blind eye ( and rage and cry ) You consume tales of mysteries and thrillers, Of adventures and dreamers, But whilst you eye the scripts with glee, I try never to turn away from thee. What you don’t see is an image of vivacity, For while you rather read the tales of others, I could write novels about another, The light in your eyes, the beam on your lips. FRIEND, A thousand different stories I could write about you, Within pages we’d find magic and friendship. Galloping across lands with nothing at hand, Jousting with dragons for our homeland. But what I could never capture is the light of your eyes Or the smile upon your lips as earnestly did you unravel a fairy tale, But I would write about our rapport for years to come, Until death we shall not succumb. FRIEND, We are not fragile. We are not weak. We have learnt of fear, And we fought through it. They claim of our loss, Yet we claim our victory. Beat us down but We would not be made a mockery. FRIEND, We will LIVE not just survive. FRIEND, L I V E
