Your DT au list sounds awesome :0 dating ADORA? HELLO??? <3 not to get too nsfw but like... good lord drugged by prime and prostitute... fwooooo im dizzy
Thank you thank you THANK YOU for asking! I'll give a description of those three.
Dating Adora: In this AU, Catra never turned to the side of good. She stayed firmly planted in evil, spiraling further and further down until she was unrecognizable from who she'd been. She hurt Adora in the process, a thousand times over, and Adora was thoroughly heartbroken. She still holds out hope that Catra will one day return to her as a friend, but she won't accept her as a lover anymore.
Since Catra was just getting worse and worse, she treated those around her even more poorly than in canon, enough to drive them away with resentment. This includes DT, who joined her hoping for chaos and mischief, and maybe a new partner in crime, only to leave scorned and bitter.
While posing as Flutterina, DT became genuinely close to Adora. Unlike Catra, she was kind to them, and charmingly dim-witted at times, and other times proved to be a strong leader and a great strategist. They tried not to let personal feelings develop and focus on their job, but the more one tries to deny themselves something, the stronger the urge to have it becomes. Once the Rebellion caught on that there was a spy, DT actually revealed themselves and surrendered, offering up the information freely and letting them know about the impending attack on Salineas in time to band together and stop it. DT could scarcely believe they were doing this--they were never this unprofessional! But a piece of them wanted to take a chance on Adora and this whole Rebellion thing. It might be a better place to end up than being mistreated by Catra in the Horde.
When pressed as to why they were helping, they only spoke to Catra's maltreatment and left out how badly they were crushing on Adora. With them being recruited by the Rebellion now, however, they were able to get to know Adora better as themselves instead of as Flutterina, and it turned out that they were just enough like how Catra had once been that it drew Adora to them like a moth to flame. They were a self-centered, playful prankster full of attitude and style, and that turned out to be Adora's type.
Although they didn't start officially dating, they started hanging out one-on-one more often. DT had great advice for how to help Adora repair her friendship with Glimmer, and they helped her relax when stress got to her and interfered with planning. And, yes, sometimes that stress-relief came in the form of hook-ups. DT's idea, of course.
DT filled the Catra-shaped void in Adora's heart, and she started to fall for them. Sometime in space, when they all went to rescue Glimmer (DT joined in), DT and Adora made their relationship official. When Adora found that Catra had willingly joined Horde Prime and didn't even NEED to be chipped because she was more than happy to tell him everything he wanted to know and do anything he asked, that was the final straw. Adora knew what she had with Catra was completely burned to the ground, but she could plant something new with DT in the ashes.
Post war, Catra is exiled to Beast Island to clean the First Ones' waste away, along with other members of the Horde, and DT is living in Bright Moon, making Adora smile every day. This AU isn't as developed as my other ones, and I know full-well it has a weaker narrative than Catra and Adora's relationship, but I wanted to think about how an Adora x DT relationship would work without Catra, and how that would affect canon Catra should she ever stumble into this timeline and see how different it is from her own happy ending (she's heartbroken and pissed about it and ready to tear DT's eyes out).
Drugged by Prime: A quick note on this one. Although the events in this one overlap with some kinks, I did not make it with that intention. I'm totally fine with people reading it that way if that's what they like, but I just wanted to make it clear that this is coming from a perspective of how horrible and torturous this situation would be, so it may not cater to the kink audience as well as it would if I did write it for those purposes.
So, in this AU, instead of chipping people, Prime drugs them with a green fluid that he injects into their veins. Each clone carries a supply to spread among Etheria, and Prime can inject it directly himself with the tubes on his head (his "hair). The drug makes people unaware of their surroundings, complicit, obedient, and uncaring, and in high doses, nearly unable to function. Horde Prime captured some members of the Rebellion and held them hostage, drugging them so that they couldn't escape even if they tried. They only get locked up at night and are able to roam freely during the day because they are more heavily drugged then and can't think for themselves, and the lethargy is so strong they can barely move. Even when they come down from it at night in their cells, the drug is addictive, so they find themselves hoping for more in the morning, even though they know they need to be off it for any chance of escape. It's a cruel torture to put them under, and they all hate themselves for how weak they are to the drug. Sometimes, he waits to inject it until they offer their arm freely, practically begging for it.
Captured are Bow, Glimmer, Catra, DT, and Wrong Hordak. The other princesses and Adora are on the outside, trying to save them, but with them being hostages, it's hard to get in without Prime killing one of them as a threat, and she knows he'll start with Catra.
Prime has a particular disdain of DT because in this AU, Wrong Hordak and DT start forming a romance after Wrong Hordak left Prime and joined the Rebellion. When Prime recaptured him and viewed his memories, he blamed DT for "corrupting" WH with lust and taking his purity, so he tortures them more often.
The prisoners are all wrapped in silk robes that allow easy skin access for their routine drug injections, and Prime frequently abuses this to harm them--especially DT--as well. It's so convenient, during dinner, to beckon DT over, lay their back on the table, and press a lit candle to their bare chest till it burns a hole right through their scales. They're too out of it to even process what's happening to them, but they groan in pain, unable to move away from Prime's firm grip. The others share burn marks, too, but none as much as DT, whose whole chest is littered with circular scars.
Prime scratches DT often, too, and refers to them as filth. As a whore. As impure and unworthy. He hits them when they're standing in his way, knocks them over, steps on them as if they're nothing but dirt. This isn't only torment for DT, though, as they can barely comprehend what's going on at any given moment due to the drug. No, this is all a show for Wrong Hordak, who has been assimilated back into Prime's ranks out of fear for DT's life. Each night, Wrong Hordak visits DT's cell and talks to them, providing the only comfort they've had since arriving, and treats their wounds if he's permitted by Prime to enter their cell. Prime likes to think of himself as reasonable, but it also gives him joy to feel the despair in Wrong Hordak as he visits DT and sees the rough shape that they're in each time, especially compared to the others.
Prostitute that Deals in Information: This DT is similar to the one we know and love, but there's a twist to their occupation of choice. They aren't as much of a field spy as canon DT, but they offer services in exchange for information (and money, obviously--LOTS of money). On the surface, they appear as a popular and well-known prostitute working at a highly reputed brothel (since Etheria is cool about a lot of things, I'm going with brothels and sex workers not being taboo here). They're so popular, in fact, that they have their own room, and they scarcely leave it. They have a variety of outfits, but they tend to go for a classier look, like a courtesan, and often wear loose-fitting robes that slide off their shoulders and reveal a lot of leg. Aside from being sexy, it's easy to take off and on again, which is great for them, as they hardly stay dressed. They also carry an ornate Chinese pipe, though they never actually light it. They just think it looks pretty to hold and pose with.
Yes, DT's beauty draws people in, but not only that. Their shapeshifting allows them to turn into anyone's fantasy. Your ideal match? Your ex? Your crush who's dating someone else? They can do all that and more. They frequently do in the midst of things, even if they weren't asked, just to see the reaction of their client. Most people don't admit what they really want until they're at the height of their pleasure.
For those in the know, however, DT is not merely a skilled prostitute, but a bank of information on just about everybody. Lots of people visit them, and they offer up secrets for a discounted price on DT's services, or, if DT's having a good day, they offer them up freely while in the heat of lust after having paid full-price. DT does do some field work, in the espionage department, to dig up juicy intel that they don't get from their clients.
DT also has a little trick up their sleeve--literally. Under the long, loose sleeves of their robe, they conceal venomous throwing knives that they can use when in danger. That is, if their stunning looks don't get them out of it first. If they had a coin for every time a Horde soldier had looked the other way in exchange for a peek at the full length of their leg and the most tantalizing brief glimpse of just one asscheek, they could afford to take more days off.
Both Catra and Glimmer catch wind of their true services at about the same time, so both start visiting. They soon find that DT's prices are too high for frequent use if all they want is intel, so they have to give a little to get a little. They basically end up giving DT exactly what DT's going to give to the other, and they realize this soon. Upon being questioned (or threatened, in Catra's case), DT reveals that they have no loyalties to either side and are only there to do their job. With that knowledge, the Rebellion and Horde must seek information at their own risk, knowing full-well nothing they say to DT stays private. Well, not unless they're paid for their silence.
So, Catra starts bribing them not to give Glimmer information, or to give her false information to mislead her. Glimmer catches on and starts paying more to get the information and keep her own secrets safe, and now it's just a battle of who can use DT's intel and who can keep their mouth shut, and all the while, DT only gets richer for it. A nice setup, indeed.
DT gets visits from other members of both the Rebellion and Horde, which helps give them even more information. And, yes, Rebellion and Horde alike both take advantage of the other services DT offers, including Catra and Glimmer. Catra has them shapeshift into Adora, but sometimes they tease her by becoming Glimmer or Scorpia. Likewise, for Glimmer, they become Bow, Adora, and Catra. For Bow, they become Glimmer and Sea Hawk. For Adora, they become Catra and Glimmer. They'll be themselves a lot, too, of course, but they love seeing the shock on Glimmer's face when she opens her eyes to see "Catra" above her, or how red Bow's face gets when he's in "Sea Hawk's" embrace, or how Adora moans "Glimmer's" name and then feels instant guilt, or how Catra furiously and unconvincingly denies any attraction to anyone but Adora. It's all a fun game to DT.
However, the danger of knowing all that they do is just that--knowing too much. The brothel is set ablaze, and Catra arrives first to rescue DT. Of course, she only arrived first because she started it, but no one needs to know that. By the time the news reaches Glimmer, DT is long gone, having been taken back to the Horde. DT, though technically a prisoner, has built up a friendship with Catra and is willing to be her personal spy. This is when they take on more of their espionage tasks and less of their usual work, but Catra keeps them around for that, too.
Glimmer is upset at having lost her source of intel, as well as someone she started to view as a friend (albeit, an untrustworthy friend). When she meets them again after capturing them as Flutterina, she feels betrayed, but then DT reveals that they felt more cared for by Catra since she saved them from being burned alive and offered them a place to stay, and accidentally lets on that they may have feelings for Catra. Glimmer is upset by this, as she thought she and DT were finally becoming friends, and she assures them she would have saved them if she'd been there. They don't believe her at first, but she finally gets through to them, and they offer up the intel they have on the Horde.
Post war, DT goes back to their usual job, but they start looking into acting as a possibility. They form genuine friendships with both Catra and Glimmer, as well as the other Rebellion members by the end of the war. And, yes, they still provide services to them, thank you for asking. It's not like anyone could get enough of them, after all, and now they get a friend discount--that is, if DT is feeling particularly generous that day.
