The day had felt so long and it wasn’t even halfway over. Molly had agreed to an early shift at the library in exchange for her later shift so she could make a rehearsal for the production of Bright Star that she was in and really it was going to make for a much easier evening but the morning had been more than hectic. It was a children’s story day at the library, basically a morning where parents could drop off their children at the library for an hour of story time and it was Molly’s least favorite morning of work. It wasn’t necessarily the kids, she didn’t dislike children or anything, she just wasn’t really in the mood. But she pushed through and agreed at the end of the shift that it wasn’t such a bad morning after all.
Three hours, she had three hours now before rehearsal, a perfect amount of time to get home, have lunch, change, look over her lines, pack something light for dinner, and head back to the theatre. It was the perfect plan - rather, it was the perfect plan until she saw the blue lights in the rear view mirror of her yellow Volkswagen Beetle. Her pulse quickened as she signaled and pulled out of the road, sure enough the officer following her to the side of the road. She couldn’t have been going that fast - Molly had always been a rule follower and she could have sworn she was still in the 35 speed limit zone, but she had gotten lost in thought so maybe not. Whatever she had been going surely it hadn’t been fast enough to actually warrant anything, so perhaps all she’d get was a warning. She could be hopeful. As she watched the officer step out of his vehicle she calmly reached for her wallet and rolled down the window, drawing in a slow deep breath to calm herself. || @wrongtimezone
