don’t forget the date: july 21, 1997 — eliana & noah
eliana kim. eliana. he repeated the name over and over again in his head. even though he had spent at least ten minutes the night before trying to get the pronunciation right, the name still wasn’t flowing off his tongue. how was he supposed to impress her if he couldn’t even say her name? he starts to curse himself under his breath, lightly smacking the side of his head. “come on! everyone probably calls her ellie! how is she going to remember you if you can’t even remember her name?” he starts to drag his feet, losing hope the further he made it down a random hallway of the wishbone building.
is what he was doing creepy? oh, definitely? but did he realize it? of course not! in his mind, noah was just trying to start up a friendship with you. if only he had been brave enough to strike up a conversation the first time that he had seen you, but he had been at a loss for words. they let such pretty girls into wishbone? then what was he doing there? he immediately felt inadequate next to you. but after thinking about the encounter later that night, he scolded himself for thinking such a way. your beauty alone didn’t define you! he’d have to get to know you. and what better place to start than on the internet?
yawning loudly as he kept walking down the hallway, casually peering into each room that he passed, noah went through the information that he had studied last night. your name, birthday, the languages that you spoke. instead of learning all of it organically, the better idea in his head was to memorize it all in advance. then you’d definitely want to be his friend. stretching his arms out in front of him, letting out an even more obnoxious yawn than before, he suddenly stops dead in his tracks. wait, was that who he thought it was?
taking a couple of backwards steps, he leans back and peeks into the practice room. it was you! it had to be. shuffling until he was standing directly in the doorway, he clears his throat before knocking on the wall. despite his attempt at a polite entrance, he probably wasn’t speaking loud enough to be heard over the loud music playing. “elena! that’s you right? we haven’t really met before, so i thought that i’d introduce myself. i’m noah!”
