A piece of space junk that has been given the apt name of ‘WTF’ is heading straight for Earth - and will crash into us in less than a month. No one seems to know exactly what the flying object actually is - hence the name - but they are in no doubt we are in its path. All anyone is sure off is that it is about two metres wide and could be hollow inside - meaning it might be man-made. But how would a man-made object be hurtling in space and on a collision course with the planet where it originated? Earlier this month, an object called WT1190F was spotted on a trajectory that will bring it right to Earth. It came here from far beyond the moon, and its hollow nature and cylindrical shape suggest that it's human-made and not an asteroid or meteorite. It won't cause any major problems on the ground, but there's still something troubling: Astronomers don't know what the heck it is, or why it's only now coming up on their radar. Its trajectory is pretty easily understood. It's headed for an area of space over the Indian Ocean, where it will re-enter the atmosphere at 2:20 p.m. EDT on November 14 (CORRECTION LINK BELOW). ITS NOW THE 13TH, Most of it will burn up, according to Nature, but any leftover debris will make sea-fall about 40 miles off the coast of Sri Lanka.
Update: November 13, 2015 - WT1190F “Space Junk” Due to Impact Indian Ocean Today, November 13th.
Speculations about what the 2-meter-long hollow object could be include Russian or Chinese mission debris, or American spent rocket stage or module from the Apollo program.
“Its trajectory shows that it has a low density and is perhaps hollow. That suggests an artificial object.”
- Jonathan McDowell, Ph.D., Astrophysicist, Harvard University
Unidentified "space junk" on highly elliptical orbit from beyond the Moon was discovered in early October 2015 in an image taken by the University of Hawaii 2.2-meter telescope above that astronomers call WT1190F is on a collision course with the Indian Ocean about 40 miles (65 km) from Sri Lanka off the tip of India on Friday, November 13, 2015, at 11:50 AM local time.
Today Friday, November 13, 2015, “mysterious space junk” called WT1190F about 6 feet long (2m) traveling on a highly elliptical orbit twice as far as the Earth-Moon distance of 242,000 miles is due to hit the Indian Ocean about 40 miles (65 km) from Sri Lanka off the southern tip of India at 11:50 AM local time. WT1190F to hit Indian Ocean today
http://odishasamaya.com/news/science/wt1190f-to-hit-indian-ocean-today/63951
As reported earlier, Scientists have discovered an unidentified flying object called as WT1190F or WTF, heading towards the Earth as space debris.
This UFO has a highly elliptical orbit outside the Moon’s, which is what has put it on a rendezvous path with our planet.
The UFO was discovered in early October by the Catalina Sky Survey, a project intended to provide early warning of approaching comets and asteroids. They suspect that the object may be a piece of old man made space junk which appears to be around 2m long.

No one’s 100% certain what WT1190F is — asteroid or rocket stage — but we are certain it will light up like a Roman candle when it re-enters Earth’s atmosphere around 6:20 Universal Time (12:20 a.m. CST) tomorrow morning Nov. 13. (more…)
