Here. Let me break it down for you. I don’t think you understand this whole issue.
Based on what I’ve see from interviews, shows, and music videos… Most Koreans associate black people with hip hop, basketball, gang violence, and basically everything stereotypical. I’ve seen idols meet a black person and immediately pull out their “ghetto english" in order to communicate. They even do impressions of what black people sound like and act as if we’re all the same (there’s always the “sassy black female" impressions and then Hyoyeon from SNSD did Louis Armstrong and it was pretty fucking disrespectful cuz it’s Louis Armstrong) . They think it’s funny but it’s not. They think that “acting black" or “hip hop" is some sort of concept or gimmick that can be thrown around when it actually isn’t. It’s a lifestyle.
Hip Hop was originally founded due to oppression and the hardships that black folks have to deal with. Now you just let that sink in.
It’s not ok for them to continuously steal our material and then turn around and mock our people.
But I don’t really care. That Wassup group sucks. And so does most of kpop. I just like EXO and some individual idols. Consider me not even apart of the kpop fandom. I don’t have the time or the energy.
