I moved to Seattle in the late 90’s during the dotcom boom. It was exciting and the promise of infinite wealth outlined on paper was so motivating at the time. But the city was dark for a #lasvegas boy like me. I kept a regular journal then. My first 51 days lacked a full day of sunshine. In 99 the downtown core where I worked was virtually under lockdown due to the #wtoseattleprotests We dotcom diehards worked through it. Found safe pubs and felt brave to drink through the tear gas that would sometimes loom outside. By 2002 I had survived the first dotcom crash of 2001. I didn’t get an iPod until 03/04. I had a #sonydiscman and in it for the dark months of 02-03 was Out Of Season. I listened to it while walking in the rain. I listened to it while waiting for buses. I listened to it on my long drives to #vancouverbc from #seattle We all have soundtracks. We remember the very important ones. #outofseason by #rustinman and the incredible #bethorton are one of the very important soundtracks in my life.
