long story short, yes.

long story long, it's complicated. i'm in my second semester of college at a top 10 liberal arts school and fighting to stay afloat socially, academically, and physically. this past year has been amazing in so many ways but i've also run into a lot of health issues that are looking more and more like an autoimmune disease. i am terrible at scheduling my time so now i spend every waking moment busy.

thank you for caring about my story. on bad days, i open my inbox and its pile of unanswered asks and read the lovely things you've all written. i'm hoping to get ch 5 (and maybe 6?) done over spring break, but as always no promises.

“And then he made me come pick him up from a random hookup at like two in the goddamned morning, like I’m some sort of chauffeur!” Tim continued, raking his hands through his hair. It was getting long again, which meant he was due for another round of Stephanie coming at him with an electric razor and a maniacal grin.

“Wait, wait, wait—back up. Did you say that he had a hookup? Isn’t he dating Cassie?” Bart said from their place on the couch, having abandoned the sci-fi movie on the television.

“Holy shit.” Incredible, simply incredible. Not that Tim was surprised. “Cassie’s the sweetest person alive and this is how he treats her? What an asshat.”

A RedBull sat enticingly in the mini fridge next to the table, and Tim eyed it for longer that was probably medically advisable. He had seen the news articles talking about how bad energy drinks were, but his blood sang for caffeine and perhaps for Conner Kent to get fired. RedBull could only accomplish one of those, but that was enough for him.

The cold metal of the can warmed against his hand, and Tim sighed as the drink passed his lips. He had discipline, sure, but if this was his only vice, he was fine. In this city, a mild RedBull affection was nothing.

“Careful, those things will give you a heart attack,” a voice behind him said, tone lighthearted.

Tim turned to face Dick, who was sitting on the chips table with a wisecracking grin on his face. Slowly, he took a sip from a can identical to Tim’s, the brightness never leaving his eyes.

“Didn’t know you were into self-annihilation,” Tim responded, his tone flatter than he’d intended.

Dick seemed to take it in stride. “In this business, everyone is—at least a little.” He set the can down next to him. “Some of us more than others.”
