!!! SPOILERS DOWN BELOW !!!
WTWAU where Evan just doesn't come back from being eliminated.
Where even after Karmen has finished and fought off that rat main guy, she just doesn't get Evan back. I'd imagine she'd have to take time to grieve first but the void that erupts within her heart ceases to leave. So she goes on this massacre (much like vishia did) in an attempt to finish her initial goal but much to her surprise it wasn't as fulfilling since she didn't get to give Evan a proper send off. Maybe along the way she may come across someone similar but none can replace that same self-loathing man that had her reconsidering the entire trajectory of her plans.
She'll also have a massive target on Vishia to try and get her out as well as other mods as soon as possible but nothing can bring back the purposeful dependency that Evan presented to her.
What about Evan? From having this paradise of an escape to being pushed into the reality of his situation once again. Having to relive his traumas of constant verbal evisceration WITHOUT his younger sister to be there for him this time. It would feel suffocating and deafening all at once for him. Especially without Karmen.
This person who brought him up on his feet so that he could stand for himself and build his own self reputation. She was teaching him how to feel comfortable with relying on yourself and having him relearn that being human isn't something to be out down for. That his depressive behaviors mattered. That the death of his mother should have been respected better as well as his feelings towards it.
To them both, they were learning how to simply be comfortable and live amongst others despite how they are and how other people may seem. Karmen has had to help Evan with his self worth time and time again but at that same token, Karmen gained companionship through meeting Evan and learning to grow stronger as they both advance in wake the will.
Without it, they wouldn't be able to go on longer or be able to stay on track with their goals. Which is to better themselves.
And don't even me STARTED on Hayley, poor girl would be sobbing and suffering over the loss of her brother because not only did she not have a good starting family, the one she joined got tainted because of her own mother! That girl's only stability and acceptable role model within her life was Evan and now that he's gone to the real world and she's still stuck in the VR world, it would mess with her so bad. She probably wouldn't want to be her alternative model " Sara " anymore due to not having the courage to stand on her own since the main person who helped build that up for her was Evan. Like YIKES
Personally, I don't think Karmen would try to take out Hayley immediately but eventually she would have to. Either as a send off so she can finally be reunited with her brother once more or so that she could accept the truth of heavily relying on escapism could stunt you in life
WHAT IF by the time she came back, Evan was just gone. No where to be seen other than a note he left on his desk near his computer about his unknown wear bouts.
