Lea-Anna - Take Control - Mixtape Review
Having gone quiet for a number of months and leaving us with not much more than kisses for breakfast early in the morning, Lea-Anna dropped her debut mixtape Take Control in the latter part of 2013 as the year drew to a close.
Whilst this artist has previously introduced us to her sound with a few tracks, Take Control is the first real compilation of tracks that really showcases what this young lady is all about. Over the 18 tracks of this EP, I feel that Lea-Anna manages to reveal a very sassy and creative side that can adapt to a number of genres, but one that the listeners have not had the chance to become acquainted with just yet. Exhibiting this style over some very familiar, well-loved riddims courtesy of Wundah, this mixtape has proved to be an eye-opener for some, but for many, a reminder to keep a close eye on this lady.
It has to be said that one of my favourite aspects of this project was seeing Lea-Anna stepping out of the Dancehall genre and exploring more, which has most certainly added to the creative flair of this mixtape. In fact, this seems to insinuate that future projects from Lea-Anna may very well entail other genres, but only time will tell. I guess until then, we will have to stay tuned to see what moves she makes next as she continues to take control.
Download the Take Control mixtape here.

My 2011 UK Reggae/Dancehall Wrap Up
2012 has arrived and everyone is busy talking about their New Years Resolutions, how they're going to make this year better than the last one, and how 2012 is their year. So with everyone being busy looking back at 2011, I wanted to look back on the Reggae/Dancehall scene in the UK. Whilst there are a number of DJ's and sounds that are supporting the scene, there was one particular radio show that really and truly wrapped it all up for me. This show was presented by Robbo Ranx on BBC's 1xtra and featured the UK's finest Reggae personalities of the moment; Gappy Ranks, Christopher Ellis, Stylo G, Lea Anna, Juvinile, Curtis Lynch and Wundah! Whilst I believe that your 7 days to listen back to the full show on the 1Xtra website has elapsed, there are two freestyles featured below showing the talent, versatile nature and strength of the current UK Reggae scene. With things already looking very promising, it has to be said that if 2011 is anything to go by, we can only wonder what they have in store for us in 2012... Hot Off The Press: Stylo G Promo Video
This is undoubtedly my favourite Stylo G track and from previous blog posts, it is evident to see that I rate and support him as an artist so I don't feel the need to repeat myself. However if you did miss the previous posts which I wrote on this artist, you can download his mixtape presented by Robbo Ranx here, and you can watch the official Swagga Dem video here, but for now...
"None ah dem cyaan go 'round his style!"
