Wii U WUP-901 kiosk image dump (2024 update edition)
I looked into it again, for the first time in a couple years, and found some info I hadn't seen before (and some actually recent info from 2024)
console #1 (and gamepad)

Obtained from a guy who used to work in a game shop, in the UK. Probably was in a kiosk at one point.
"It doesnt have any demos on it ... but it does play, look, act like the retail version ..."
"in order to switch the pad on, you need to press a button on a cable which switches on the gamepad."
"... this one comes with a 32gb HDD ..." (note: I believe that's actually just a standard 32GB NAND.)
I suspect the model number is WUP-901(03), but that's just speculation, filling in the blanks as best I can, and corroborating with info on the following unit...
console #2 (and gamepad)

Console appears to behave the same as retail, and reads retail PAL games via the disc drive. Which is to say, it doesn't have an HDD.
This is my first time seeing a WUP-901 as a set, complete with its original full kiosk. So if nothing else, now I have an idea of what to maybe look for to try and spot more WUP-901 consoles in photos online.
console #3 - WUP-901(02)

photos posted by user gbbeil. this doesn't really give us much of any further insight, but I figured I should document it anyway.
additional notes
TypForte also mentioned they saw an auction online, with the following text:
"Standard wii u console and kiosk edition wis-003 gamepad Rare! Main console is WUP-901 (03) it has the kiosk switch behind (with the led blue light) used to power on off the console. Has some marks and a dent in back of game pad from me removing the lock as lost the key. I’ve tried to upload as many pictures as possible. Happy bidding! Note!!!....The main console is not a kiosk edition the gamepad is, still very unique and a rare piece to own. As far as I’m aware the wis-003 gamepad is compatible with the wis-001 console but can be used with any wii u."
That suggests the WUP-901 (03) consoles were paired with WIS-003 gamepads. This info is a bit dubious though, so take it with a grain of salt.
