Wu 巫; Easter Eggs from #WUTheSeriesEP1
Since my twitter is acting up (T~T)//, here's my thread for all the easter eggs i've spotted for EP 1~
The owner of the mansion is very superstitious and is into feng shui 風水 - which is a geomancy to direct the flow of energy. Here you see 福祿壽 (Fu, Lu, Shou) - the deities that represent Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity respectively. The alter is for 土地公 (Tu Di Gong)
Similarly, you'll see a ship in the house, in front of their family/clan photo, it is for 一帆风顺 (yi fan feng shun) - a smooth voyage in every endeavour they face.
This Gourd here is called a Hu Lu 葫蘆 - traditionally used as a water bottle, and also usually symbolises health/longevity. but it was said in Taoism, that empty gourds can hold spirits, as a vessel.
I cant understand Hakka sorry, but some of the words I caught Niran chanting was:
滅! 滅於此地!(Mie! Mie Yu Ci Di!) Destroy/Perish! Perish upon this land!
Reason why they had to do the ritual at that area is because that is where the energy is the strongest cos of the Mountain, Land, Lake (Water representation).
Words on the Gourd: 鎮 - 宅 鎮 (Zhen):Suppress / Subdue 宅 (Zhai):Habitat
When Niran mentioned Pete’s age, based on 2026, and Pete’s 24, Pete is born on the year of Horse. Fun fact: 2002 is the year of Water Horse, 2026 is the year of Fire Horse.
Each Zodiac cycle has 12 years: Rat, Cow, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig
鼠,牛,虎,兔,龍,蛇,馬,羊,猴,雞,狗,豬
Transcribing what I heard, again I don’t understand Hakka, but caught the following words from Niran when he started the ritual:
奉天之命 (Feng Tian Zhi Ming) By the Mandate of Heaven
This part that I got curious about was this scene. Usually chrysanthemum flower is used to pay respects to the dead. (Can someone help me confirm if this is a chrysanthemum stalk?)
Severed/headless stalk would represent unnatural death, that the person’s life has already passed as it is.
Regarding Niran's Car Plate: I was trying to find out about Betong as the subtitles specified it from Niran's car plate.
So, Betong is a Southern Thai Town located in Yala Province, and very near the Malaysian Border.
Apparently, they are very famous for their Betong-Hakka Chinese food, which links to Niran since it was said some of the rituals were done in Hakka Chinese.
