Q: In today’s match, Royal Never Give Up seemed to be on the back foot in the early-game for the first two games. How did you end up making a comeback?
W: It was because we always thought that we could still win and fight slowly.
Q: Why did your team look weaker in the early-game?
W: Maybe it was because we made mistakes. In the second game, we didn’t communicate very well and made some miscalculations.
Q: Evaluate both of OMG’s bot lanes. (*OMG has 2 ADC & 2 SPT and, so, has two sets of bot lane duos.) Which bot lane is the hardest to deal with?
W: They’re both quite strong at laning, since we’ve only played against SmLz (*an ADC) in scrims and I’ve essentially never even seen bei (*the another ADC) before. Today was the first time that I’ve laned against him in these few months. As to which one is hardest to deal with, I think it depends on their champion composition.
Q: Assess your performance today.
W: It was all too easy and there weren’t any problems whatsoever, so it was fine. There were still mistakes and we will gradually work on them.
Q: Who is in charge of leading in the bot lane?
W: Lead? That definitely would be Mata. Usually when I’m focussed, I wouldn’t talk as much. On the other hand, Mata has more time to observe the game as a whole, so it is generally him who leads. Our other plays just do our own thing and report to him whenever necessary.
Q: Are you getting along with Mata?
W: Sometimes we make extremely crucial mistakes and when it is especially important, he would lose his temper a bit. But after he talks to us about them, we would slowly improve on them. If he has to point out the same problem once again, he might get a bit angry.
Q: When he gets angry, do you (cutely) make him feel better?
W: No, we would be stony-faced and not speak. (laughs)
Q: After Mata joined the team, RNG has become more hard-working. Some critics have even stated that you’ve become stable and not as reckless as before. Do you think so too?
W: Yes. When he first came, we might’ve played too rashly in our scrims where we occasionally got caught out and died too many times. But nowadays, it is difficult to get caught out under his command.
Q: What changes did Mata make for RNG?
W: We work harder and he teaches us about some details of the game. If we can do what he says, it’s hard to die.
Q: What have you learnt from him?
W: More steady play. How to prevent getting caught out and know when you can pressure or pull back against your opponents. Previously, we would frequently be a little lost in the mid-game and not know what to do. Now it’s a lot easier because we know how to win.
Q: There are drastic changes to RNG’s performance this year from last year’s. Why do think that is?
W: It was Mata most importantly. This dalao (*ringleader of a gang) is just too good. Really. It feels as though Mata created this game. There are many specifics that I’ve never taken notice of and yet he has. I’m not saying tips/tricks for only the Support role, but for every single position. I just think that this guy is too good at this game.
Q: What is the state of your team right now? In best condition?
W: Not right now. Because we haven’t played together for very long. Only a month, so we have many things that we need to take care of.
Q: RNG has a 10-man squad. Is there pressure to become a starter?
W: I wouldn’t think of such things. I’m happy just to do my best.
Q: For this Spring Split, what will RNG achieve?
W: I don’t know currently. I only hope that we can improve and work on our synergy. The RNG players all want to become a top 3 team (of the LPL).
Q: Which team will give you the most trouble to defeat after today?
W: I think every team is quite strong and we can’t slack off against any of them.
Q: League games have become fast-paced this patch. Which champions are better to play?
W: Tristana, MF, Kalista. They are quite good. Lucian is okay, but his range is too short, so he is a little weak in the mid-game.
Q: What is your take on the ADC role in the current patch (6.1). In what ways is it different from last year?
W: Stable levelling. Just group in the mid-game. Although some say that ADC are stronger now, I don’t think that the changes were that big. It might’ve been the item changes or the slightly quicker pace.
Q: Tahm Kench and Poppy is a popular Top pick. From an ADC point of view, how would you deal with these kinds of champions?
W: At present time, tanky Top champions are difficult to deal with. What annoys me the most at 20min is the enemy Top laner like Poppy or Tahm Kench. They are just too tanky. It’s hard to play against them.
Q: Then how do you handle them?
W: Keep up in the early-game. If you don’t, it’s difficult to deal a decent amount of damage against them.
Q: In this patch, both Bloodthirster and Death’s Dance are good items and Death’s Dance has been buffed. Which item should an ADC choose out of these two?
W: I consider Bloodthirster to be a bit better. Death’s Dance might be suitable for short-range ADC because you can use this item to prevent yourself from dying if you take more damage in team fights.
