WVIL: Camera Futura by Artefact
WVIL stands for Wireless Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens, what this means is that the lens and screen(viewfinder) are wirelessly connected so you can take pictures remotely. (cool right?)
The'er a whole bunch of other cool features like photo editing and social network integration and shareable custom filters.
I found this concept camera(I know, I'd love to own one too) soon after I finished designing a more approachable DSLR concept of my own.
It made me realize just how short sighted my concept was (though they occupy separate spaces), and it led me to take a bigger picture stance as a product designer.
Watch how awesome this camera is!! DSLR converted into a Smartphone! Where can we get our hands on this beauty?
In 2010, we embarked on a journey to investigate photography. Based on our findings, we identified several opportunities for innovation that are left untapped by the camera industry. We asked ourselves: Why is it not possible to share images right from a DSLR camera? Why do these cameras not help aspiring photographers grow in skill? …
A few days ago, on our Facebook Page we stated our theory that Smartphone cameras would one day be so advanced that they would replace the need for a DSLR camera completely. They have already replaced the need for digital point-and-shoot cameras as their megapixel quality is just as good and their capabilities to edit images and public on social media instantaneously is far more attractive than the hastle of plugging in, uploading, editing, and publishing photos with a digital camera. We think that one day, this technology will advance so far that it will replace the need for a DSLR.
We received a lot of smack from professional photographers and even technology enthusiasts who see the value in DSLRs for their quality photos, high resolution images, compatability with large photo editing softwares, etc. We totally get that. However, we don't see it as being a far stretch that Smartphones one day offer the same features, with editing software built-in, and social connection apps just like that of a smartphone.
Then we cam across this camera and thought, holy crap, we weren't as crazy as some of our fans thought we were. This has already been thought of, built, and in testing.
Where can we get our hands on this beauty?
