Reasons I, the author, think you should read The World We Dream About

1. Mutual Pining Zukka

2. So Many Cliche Scenes in a Diner (Including at least one inspired by “Love, Simon”)

3. Mai, Ty Lee, and Azula teasing Zuko about his “boyfriend” waaaaaay before Zukka starts even flirting

4. Sokka tutors Zuko

5. Platonic Maiko (Including Mai taking notes for Zuko since she knows he can’t hear out of his left ear)

6. Dadkoda and background Bakoda

7. They’re all theatre kids, but Zuko’s a Theatre Kid 

8. Slow Burn Azula Redemption (as @drama-queen-supreme so eloquently put it)

9. Katara and Aang met when Aang was stuck in a walk-in freezer (personally I think this story is hilarious and a great iceberg parallel) 

10. Sokka and Katara having no clue they’re in love with their best friends, Suki and Toph are often facepalming in the background

11. Zuko sits on Sokka’s Lap 

And that’s just in the first Eight Chapters and doesn’t mention the (frankly ridiculous amount of) Angst that’s included too. Or my amazing, nonbinary OC. Or the Suki and Azula rivalry. Or the Hadestown parallels.

bitch. dumbass. idiot. hadestown au=wwda. you brainless idiot. having one wip on hadestown (that’s CLEARLY stealing my brand, as i obviously own all atla/hadestown aus now) and now you think you’re something fancy, huh?

snippet of chapter 14 of the world we dream about (see guys, i am working on it!! sloooowly, but i am!):

“Aang,” Mak interrupted again, “labels are supposed to fit you, not the other way around. There’s no right way to be non-binary. You don’t have to try to fit a certain stereotype or to avoid it either. You just get to be you. The nonbinary label is supposed to help you feel more like you. You don’t need to change yourself to fit the label.”

oml this zukka one-shot (that might get put into wwda or as a side one-shot like all you wanna do) is SO MUCH cheesier than i remembered. this is why i don’t write fluff.

Sokka had always thought that the whole singing a song to confess your love to someone was a little cliche. But he was a little drunk--on dark hair, warm smiles, amber eyes, and a warm beer--so when Katara asked who wanted to use the karaoke machine next, he stepped up.

She programmed in his requested song and he found Zuko sitting on the floor, looking up at him. He wasn’t on a stage or anything--this was just Suki’s basement--but Zuko was looking up at him with all the adoration in the world. Sokka felt ten feet tall as he gestured at Zuko, “This one’s for you!”

The soft musical backing filled the room and Sokka swallowed his nerves (singing wasn’t exactly his favorite part of theatre) and fixed his brown eyes on Zuko’s. 

“I could find the whole meaning of life in those sad eyes,” and he’d always thought it was cheesy--especially when Katara went through her waitress phase and played the soundtrack on repeat for weeks--but as he looked at Zuko, nothing else in the world made sense. He was lost without Zuko, without the boy who’d suffered so much but was always right there.

good news: i’m actually sitting down to write, cause even though i need to shower and prepare for class by reading a chapter of my textbook i just had a galaxy brain idea

bad news: it’s for a plot point that’s not happening for......at least ten chapters, probably more

taob was literally life changing and is spectacular. it’s absolutely no surprise to me that taob is over 160,000 hits cause it is that freaking amazing (that’s why you can find me over on @theartofpodcasting practically reading out every single sentence of every chapter) so to have me in your favorites up there with hella?? that’s just so kind 🥺
