the shield has always been a constant in Sophia’s life, watching them go out there and fight other tag teams, win championships individually and together. that’s until, seth rollins turns his buddies, with a steel chair to the back of roman reigns.
years later, after many getting together and breaking back up the fraction, Dean Ambrose had left the WWE, and hasn’t looked back since.
over many years, and many fights between the two Roman reigns and Seth rollins, Sophia was the constant in their life, always being the divider between the two.
the three of them would start secretly seeing each other, helping each other out when they were tense. until, they all caught feelings, and they’d become the only ones who mattered in each others lives.
This plot has been playing on my mind for the last few days, as I'm editing the first part of White Flag's final chapter.
I occasionally find myself drawn back into the Wrestling fandom - I don't know if I'll expand this beyond this initial paragraph but I needed to write this.
It would be a typical angst with a happy ending story, starting with this dramatic opening before flashing backwards to explain how we got here.
It would be a reader insert and the pairing would be poly and the who has already been chosen. I'll keep that a secret for now.
I have thinking about my Over the Horizon poly tangle four part story of late. I am planning an epilogue but been watching a few YouTube videos recently which reminded me of the Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels feud in 2008 which got the cogs in my mind turning.
There might be a plot brewing in the background around this, just have to work out the nitty gritty details. Like which side the reader would fall during this feud etc
Prompt: Imagine being part of poly tangle with Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels. You are the secondary partners for both men but with the holidays coming up, you are starting to feel pushed away. Alone in a hotel you question your choices of years gone by.
Warnings: Established prior relationship, poly relationships, angst, fluff ending, open marriages
Pairings: Shawn Michaels x reader x Chris Jericho

Three years ago 2007
With your back firmly pressed against the wall and the warm body of your lover holding you in place, a gleeful giggle escaped your lips. There was no place you would rather be. Well there was one other place but he was back in Texas. Time was precious and soon enough you knew that Chris would be on his way back home.
You seductively smiled up at him, your eyes twinkled taking in the sight before you. This glorious adonis who lavished affection and attention your way by the bucket load behind closed doors, with his wife’s knowing consent.
This delicious arrangement kept you happy even if you remained in the shadows. You hoped that one day that might change, that your relationship could be more public. So you didn’t have to shy away from the desire to hold their hands, to be able to be seen out and about and not be afraid of the hushed whispers in dark corners on and off the internet.
His hands dipped caressing the familiar canvas that was your body, expertly teasing you with the slightest touch. Barely there but enough to entice you in this very so satisfying dance. This forbidden tango in the night, each moment perfectly planned out. You could never tire of moments such as this.
It was intoxicating to be held in his embrace, the fire grew hotter with every passing second. You didn’t need to speak, not now. That would come in the morning when the flames of passion had been sated for a moment. You would then relise in his words, his mind and his companionship before he left your side.
Chris had been your friend long before your lover. He had been the first of the pair to find his way into your bed. Shawn had been more hesitant but still he had found his way to you.
Soon enough the touch of his lips brushing against your neck drags you back down to reality, of where you were. Lost in desire, wrapped tightly in his embrace. The chill of the wall was nothing compared to the burning path his lips were taking, featherly dancing down the curve of your neck.
This was perfection, this was only the beginning of a long night stretched out before the pair of you. No words were needed, not now. When dawn came then you would find yourself able to string a sentence together once more. His fingers dug deeply into your side, pushing you further into the wall.
A groan escapes your lips, it is all you can do as desire washes over you once again. You could almost taste it as it well up inside you to boiling point, closing to exploding through your veins intoxicating further from head straight down to your toes. It didn’t matter if it was with Chris, Shawn or the rare treat of having them both. It was always the same.
A sweet smile crossed your lips as your mind wandered off for but a second, thinking of lying cushioned between the two men. So different but yet both adored you without a second thought. “Sweetness, did I lose you for a moment?” He whispered, clawing you back from your deliriously delicious thoughts.
“You never could” You asked, still smiling as your eyes locked with his, finding it next to impossible not to drown into his steely blue gaze. You’d happily lose yourself into that deep ocean, floating happlessly. “This is where I want to be”
Chris returned the smile with one of his own, looking like the cat who had gotten the canary as he slipped his hand into yours. Then without hesitate he pulled you away from the wall, leading you towards the bed.
Present
To think that this was the end, three years you were on top of the world. You had not seen this coming, it had never crossed your mind. You had instead hoped that your relationship would have gone public, faced the metaphorical music so to speak and come out on swinging.
It was far from being conventional by any means but it had been yours. Yes there would of been backlash from the world’s media, from those who didn’t understand what it meant to be polyamorous tangle.
All partners aware, trusting in what the others were doing. You knew that their wives were both of their primary partners and you were their secondary. You were truly the road wife, the girlfriend behind closed doors. When Chris and Shawn were on the road, both of their wives had their own secondary partners. Men who were in a similar position to you but the only difference was what they had other partners to go to when Shawn and Chris came home. They were never truly alone.
You hadn’t had that. At first you had only had eyes for the two of them but as time went by, you considered it but the question was who would be willing to join this, with the knowledge and with an open mind. You had struggled to find that missing piece. So you accepted that it would never occur. You were happy with the men in your life and in your bed.
Your eyes watched as the scenery rushed by, trees and buildings with names that you simply could not comparand at the speed your sister was driving at. The world passed you by as you thought of what could have been. You had to go home, there was no escaping that. There was only so long that you could remain in the wind and that time was most definitely up, but that didn’t mean that you needed to jump headfirst into handling this mess. Oh no, that would wait for another day. You need time, time to process where your head was at, make sense of everything spiralling around you.
There was always tomorrow. For now you could hold onto the memories of what had been. Such an ending lurked just over the horizon and would rise like the dawn sooner rather than later not that you were aware of this fact. Time was not on your side as two trucks powered down the highway heading for your home. Two men, two women needing answers to what had been the last few days of radio silence. Of why you had suddenly shut the door in the faces and pushed them away.
Prompt: Imagine being part of poly tangle with Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels. You are the secondary partners for both men but with the holidays coming up, you are starting to feel pushed away. Alone in a hotel you question your choices of years gone by.

Over the horizon
You perched on the edge of the hotel bed, your phone staring up from the carpeted floor. It had long since turned off, the endless string of unanswered calls and messages flooding in, lighting up the screen ad almost drained the battery flat. To answer their increasingly worried texts and calls would mean that you would have to face this new reality. One where you were now alone.
It wasn’t just them trying to get through, your sister, friends and their partners. Each had tried but the end result was the same. They failed to get through. Your tired gaze lifted, moving to the other temptation in the room. The full glass of your poison of choice. There had been times in the past that you had struggled with alcohol, finding it hard to stop after just a complete of glasses here and there.
It had affected all aspects of your relationships, personal and professional. They did not want you to destroy yourself, burn herself out and throw your hard earned career in the ring away for a numbness that lasted until you blacked out. It had been hard but in the end, had been worthwhile. You shook your head, that now felt like a foolish thought. Your life spun into a vicious circle, landing you right back at the beginning. With you once more sat in a dark hotel room in the middle of nowhere with a bottle of booze, ready to chase away her blues.
Bouncing between Texas and Florida when you were on the road, had once been a comfortable arrangement. Setting up your own home in Mississippi as the midpoint for the days away from both of them. When they were with their own families for important days such as christmas, anniversaries and birthdays. It had almost been ten years since this arrangement had begun. All those long years that you had remained hidden in the shadows, to protect them from the harsh scrutiny of the world and it’s media.
It had been eating at you, slowly killing you. You had started to feel less than important, regardless of their kind, warm and reassuring words. However they had begun to sound hollow over time. Promises of tomorrow turning into dust and being left on the shelf to decay.
You turned your eyes away, ignoring the siren calls of temptation for now. Focusing on the ceiling as you let yourself fall backwards. Falling into the welcoming embrace of the cotton sheets and slight bounce of the mattress. “How did I not see this coming?” You softly questioned the empty room. Silence answered as your words echoed around her.
You scoffed, embarrassed that it had come to this, talking to the four walls that you confided yourself in. Trying to block out the world, trying to hide from the heartbreak that lurked just over the horizon.
You had been blinded by the depths of your own emotions, by the intoxication of your love and passion for those you had let into your heart. The whispers in the night, the ever growing distance that widen with every missed moment. The various I can’t, I’m sorry, I forgot but next time. Those cut you, more so with the frequency of them appearing in the messages you received, in the short conversation in passing that seemed to come your way. The cracks had formed, deepening as another piece of your still bleeding heart fell away each time that you felt pushed further out.
You had tried to ignore the doubt that bubbled beneath the surface at first. What had broken you to the point of vanishing from sight, was overhearing them both, discussing the arrangement that had been solid for so long. It had been by pure chance, seeing both of them at first had caused those oh so flutters in her stomach to rise up anew, but the serious expressions upon their handsome faces and the hushed tones as they spoke forced you back down to earth, hard and decisively.
It was the words next spoken that it did the most damage. ‘We both knew that this couldn’t last forever’ You had turned on your heel, rushing out to your car and hightailing it out of there. Neither had seen you lingering in the doorway, neither had seen you leave either. It was as if you hadn’t been there in the first place.
You had felt like a coward, running away without knowing the full context of the conversation. The very thought of knowing terrified you to the core. You could only see one way of this ending, with you pushed out the door and into the cold.
Raising her hands to cover your face as you fought back the tears that were threatening to cascade down your cheeks. “I’m such a lovestruck fool. I dared to think that this could end happily. It never was going to”
KNOCK KNOCK
The loud pounding of knuckles upon the door of your hotel room, caused your body to shoot up. Once more you perched upon the edge of the bed, this time your eyes were fixed upon the door. They narrowed, as you tried to work out who possibly was on the other side. It wasn’t room service, as she only ordered the one glass and nothing else. There were a long list of possibilities.
KNOCK KNOCK
Once again, the knocking came. This time it was louder, as if the person on the other side was making sure that they had been heard. To make sure that you came to the door and answered it. Whoever it was, they were not going to be ignored. You sighed, pushing yourself up and off the bed. With three steps, you had crossed the tiny room and were standing before the door. If there had been a spyhole then you would have checked first. To see who awaited her on the other side but alas there wasn’t one.
“I better get this over with” You muttered to yourself, as you wasted no time, grasping and turning the door handle. Once you had heard the click of the lock releasing, you pulled the door towards yourself revealing the rundown corridor and your sister Morgan skittishly standing there. Your eyes widened at the sight of her. “How did you find me?” You quickly fired at her, your lip quivered giving away your nervousness at being discovered.
“Are they here with you?” The next question followed, not giving your sister time to answer. “Come on, I know you. I’m your big sister. You stayed here when our parents announced their divorce then when dad got remarried and then again when his new wife fell pregnant” Her words fell in quick succession as she listed off past incidents of you suddenly disappearing. It had been many years since the last occurence.
She did know you. Morgan had been there time and time again when your anxiety got the better of you. Each and every time she found you and brought you back. Morgan always had your back and this time was no different. “And no, Chris and Shawn don’t know I’m here”
A wave of mixed emotions wash over you, disappointment and relief to name a few. You wave your sister into the room, Morgan doesn’t hesitate and enters. You follow her back into the room, closing the door behind you. It was going to be a long night.

You couldn’t stop yourself pacing back and forth, Morgan had taken up residence seated upon the bed. Her eyes firmly fixed upon your anxiously moving form. She had not said a word since entering the room, just made a beeline for the bed and sat down. This had set you on edge.
You worried that there was something she had failed to mention. Her hands had been placed on her lap. “Why are you here?” The words fell from your lips, as stilled your feet, turning to face the bed and your sister. You patiently waited for her reply. Morgan softly sighed before she further revealed her motivation for appearing.
“No-one could reach you, you had simply fallen off the grid. I was worried. Chris, Shawn, Jessica and Rebecca are distressed” She lamented, trying to breach that risen around you as you tried to isolate yourself from the world.
“They are worried as I’m ruining their time with their families” You spat back, coming across as harsher than you had hoped. Hurt shining brightly in your eyes as tears pushed themselves closer to the surface. Pooling in the corners as you continued to speak. “They don’t care, not now. They just want to heal the damage I’ve always been causing when I tried to be a part of something that was never meant to be mine” You explained, heartbreak pushing its way to the surface as you felt your knees collapse beneath you.
You fell, your hands breaking your fall. You were defeated, lost in the deafening embrace of grief. Grieving what had been but truly would never be. Morgan was up and kneeling by your side within a heartbeat. Her arms flung around your waist, holding you close as you let your sorrow out, your body trembling as you sobbed. Those tears cascading down cheeks, painting them red.
No words were spoken, as Morgan tried to comfort you as best as she possibly could. This was something that only you could truly resolve, follow this path and see where it took you. For good or bad, you needed to walk it. It fell to Morgan to try and nudge you along this winding road.
Day turned into night as the hours rolled on by. Morgan watched you sleep, tucked under the protective weight of the duvet. You had long since fallen into the realms of slumber but she couldn’t just yet. Especially after you cried yourself to sleep, it tore at her heart, pulling her left and right, wanting nothing more than to get to the bottom of this mess but it really wasn’t her place to.
She pushed her away from the wall that she had been leaning on, reaching one hand into her jacket pocket, before pulling out her phone. Her fingers danced over the touch screen unlocking the device. Without hesitation she selected her messages knowing that she had more than a few unanswered ones waiting for her. She had silenced any notifications hours before even entering the hotel. She hadn’t wanted to spook you, knowing that if she then had been a chance that you could have refused her in. She had envisioned you slamming the door in her face but that hadn’t been the case.
40 NEW Messages
The messages were from a mix of contacts, all asking the same questions. Had Morgan found you? Wanting updates on the situation. She shifted her gaze up, away from the bright glowing screen to you, checking to see if you had woken. You hadn’t. You were still lost in your dreams, she hoped that they were pleasant. You needed that right now.
She turned back to the device, rapidly typing a small message. Her finger hovered over the send button for a moment before she pressed it. Sending it off into the void of an invisible highway. Knowing that soon enough four phones would light with identical messages.
‘I’m with her. She is safe but she’s not ok. All of you will need to speak to her at some point’
Morgan knew that this would lead to more questions that she couldn’t answer. They needed to know that you were safe at the very least. This was as much as she was getting involved. She watched as a new message rolled in, quickly followed by a second, third and fourth. Talk of the devil and they shall reply.
Glad to hear that but what do you mean? - S
Please send our love, we are still worried - R
I can be there in a hot minute but I need to know what’s going on - C
This makes me happy but I agree with you - J
Sighing out of frustration, knowing that she had opened a proverbial can of worms with her initial message. Any further texts could potentially reignite the situation. Morgan had no choice but follow your path, to go dark and turn off her phone. Not before sending one final message.
‘Turning my phone off for a little while until I can get on top of this. I will update as soon as I am able’
Without a second thought, she held down the power button on the side of her phone until it was powered down and silent. If this was anything like the previous times then she knew that you needed her full attention in order to be able to face them. To face the cause of this latest resurgent of anxiety that made you run, that made you hide yourself away in order to protect yourself from harm, from the pain of heartbreak.
Morgan pondered for a moment as she crossed the room, stopping at the foot of bed. Was this a misunderstanding or was this truly the end of a decade long relationship. You needed to know even if you were afraid of what those answers might entail. Tomorrow was another day closer to that moment. Of this Morgan was certain. She made her way round the bed, climbing under the covers on the opposite side to your peaceful slumbering form.
“I do hope this ends well for you” She quietly muttered, turning her head to face you, smiling lovingly before letting herself to fall into the realm of dreams.
Your eyes flutter as you drift back into the waking world. For once you did not dream, no terrors haunting every wink of sleep allowing you to rest. Your nights had been restless, full of broken and disturbed sleep as worry flooded your senses. You hadn’t been able to vocalize your feelings as your anxiety went nuclear, sending you into overdrive.
This caused you to run. It truly had been years since your last episode, you thought that it was under control but this rising sense of abandonment forced all those old feelings straight to the surface. You turned your head, happy to see Morgan’s restful form beside you. You couldn’t stop a smile creeping it’s way across your lips, this brought back memories of your childhood. When you would often fall asleep next to each other after movie nights or after staying up way past your bedtimes from laughing the hours away. You two had always been close, even when you headed across the country, touring the indie circuit trying to make a name for yourself.
It had taken many years but it had all been more than worth it. It sent you flying into the path of two men who changed the game. They had thrown the rulebook out of the window and set your heart aflame. It blazed like a wildfire burning out of control. It hadn’t been easy but it had been your life. There had been many obstacles along the way but now was it truly over?
You shook her head, pushing such dangerously hopeful thoughts back. As you rose from the bed, sorrow soon set back in but you knew that you needed to bite the bullet in order to move forward. However, a shower your first priority then to get out of this cramped hotel room.
As you stood, the bed shook waking Morgan, the lightest of sleepers. You heard her groan, grumbling out a good morning without raising her head from her pillow. “I’m going to take a shower then we get out of here after breakfast” You shot back, heading in the direction of such as tiny bathroom.
As you closed the door behind you, you leant back with your back pressing against the wooden surface. This was just the first step, there was still a long way to go. The next hurdle would come after this hidey hole was in the rear view mirror of your sister’s car. Yours was still parked on the driveway outside your home. You had taken a cab to airport, flown across state lines and checked into this dive before you let yourself breath and take stock of what had happened.
Autopilot had kicked in, taken control and responded out of fear leading you down a familiar rabbit hole. You could see that now. You were coming out of a drawn out anxiety episode. One that plagued your teenage years and seemed to settle down after you found wrestling. It had been a way for you to get your frustrations, worries and fear out when you stepped in the squared circle. You fought each opponent, battling the odds. Sometimes failing and sometimes winning but you always felt happier by the time you exited the ring regardless of the result of the match.
You felt at home, like you truly belonged more so after the arrangement began. This was when those feelings crossed over and out of the ring, into your personal life. Two pairs of piercing blue eyes framed by dreamy smiles that you never could resist. Drawing you in, dragging you down into their red hot embrace.
It had been short of delirious fantasy come to life. The fading memory of their touch was something you clung to over the past few days but now was not the time for such thoughts to drag you back down, plunging you into the icy cold depths of despair. A hot shower was in order.
Time marched on, with your shower done. You redressed and what little luggage repacked and tucked in the boot of your sister’s car, it was time to leave. You had checked out, standing on the steps of the hotel. Staring out at the nearly empty car park, you knew it was time to get moving. Staying with Morgan would help you on the road to recovery but ultimately you would need to face Shawn and Chris. That was in the future but with Christmas just over a month away, you didn’t want to be the one to ruin the festive period.
This was not going to be easy. You had to take it one step at a time, one day then the next. Letting out the breath that you didn’t know you were holding in, you took the first step away from your retreat. It was time to begin again. Not knowing that each step was taking you closer to the ones you loved and who truly did still love you.
It is mildly frustrating as I have so many thing I need to finish but at the moment, I want to write about these two. Like alot of my stuff, it would have polyamory mixed with some tasty, tasty angst with a dash of fluff because who doesn’t love a happyish ending. I’m going to try and resist but I will probably end up writing it as I already have a title
I'm considering writing an epilogue and/or prequel to Over the horizon but I'm currently stuck on ideas to be able to start this.I think it would finish things off nicely.
Hopefully I can think of something. Would this be something people would want to see? I'd like to hear from you all on this.
