Sirens
-----
Sirens were once a thing of myth, thought to be monsters of the sea, luring sailors to their death in the dark depths of the ocean. However, the real thing that walks the streets of Illeara is vastly different.
Sirens have two forms, a human form and then their aquatic form that they transition into when they encounter water. They don’t have to shift when they come into contact with water, but it is painful to resist. They aren’t bound to any one body of water, but they have a natural affinity for it. Hauntingly beautiful, their voices are beautiful and hypnotic. They are naturally carnivorous, but haven’t consumed human flesh in centuries since it was outlawed, or so they say.
Their aquatic forms vary in shape and size, but they all have a thick, muscled tail that propels them through water. Some have extra fins while others simply have bony spikes. Regardless of how their aquatic form develops, a siren in water is deadlier than anything else you’ll encounter in the water.
Sirens have a immortal life span.
Sirens possess a haunting voice, their siren song, that often paralyzes most mortals and immortals and leaves them in a lulled state. Their voices however have no effect on Banshees. Their aquatic form is their strongest feature and it allows them to use a limited form of telepathy to communicate, but only when they are in their aquatic form. They have accelerated healing abilities that are influenced by water. While they don’t require to be near and in water constantly, they are drawn to it and keeping a siren from water can be very painful for them. While a siren is immortal, they can still perish from disease and a mortal injury if they are denied water to help with their healing.
Site Specifics
So, we have also been fielding a lot of questions about the rules and expectations for the site. We’re going to take a moment to clarify a few things and hopefully answer a few questions this way. So, without further ado, away we go:
We are an 18+ 3-3-3 rated site, so mature and triggering content is to be expected, but we do ask that everyone mark their mature and triggering content appropriately
You will register with a first and last name in all lowercase
Your first two characters are free meaning there are no requirements for those two
There are no character limits, but we do have posting requirements in order to make more than two characters
The Pharaoh and the queen are not playable on the site. There are chances to play their children and extended members of the royal family, but the Pharaoh and the queen are NPC on WWLF
We don’t allow face claims under the age of 18 and we also do not allow the use of deceased celebrities out of respect. If you’re making a mortal race you have to adhere to a 5+/- rule meaning that your characters age cannot be more or less than 5 years from the face claims actual age in real life
The oldest character that you make make is 2,500 years of age and your first character cannot be older than 500 unless you are making a canon. Only 4 characters maybe over the age of 1,000 and only 1 maybe older than 1,500
The time is the current date & year; but for all intents and purposes the site will function in fluid real-time meaning whatever month we are in is the month that the board will be in
We do have activity requirements, but they are lax. 1 in character post (communication, written dev, writing a wanted ad, starting a new thread, posting a reply, or doing a shipper post) every 15 days. no big fuss
We do have an activity check, the same time every month, the first 9 days of every month. Everyone is expected to post in those 9 days unless they are on an absence
We don’t have a word count
We will feature a shipper app that has the mixture of a free form & plotter. The graphic size for the shipper is 550x250
You can get the shipper code early if you ask an admin and have them e-mail it to you so you can start working on your character early, just be mindful of the specifics of your race
You can find those in the mini blurbs sent out earlier on the tumblr and through the more detailed ones that are coming out later this week
You may reserve 2 faces on the tumblr and those reserves are valid for a week after the soft opening date of December 5th
We do have a site discord and we encourage you to join the server. It’s a great way to make friends, create plots with members, and to learn cool updates that are leading up to the opening this coming Saturday. You can join the server here
Illeara, Egypt
Hello everyone. So, we’ve been getting a lot of questions about the city, how it works, and the overall setting of the site so we wanted to take some time to highlight a few things to help give some insight.
Illeara, Egypt was built on the bones of what in the real world is known as Alexandria, Egypt. It’s built on the Nile estuary. The city itself, has four distinct rings. Each ring is divided by a thick, magically reinforced wall. The Ikm, or the magical protection that was wrought to hold the monsters at bay has been infused in each wall to give the city the ultimate protection. Each district has unique businesses and qualities that set them apart from the other. At the heart of the center ring is the Zahra Palace, this plays home to the current pharaoh and his queen and the royal family. It sits over the Nile River with the aide of modern technology and magic.
The time for the board is the current year, 2020, although the history and timeline that you know in real life is much different in Illeara. The city & country are ruled by as ingle pharaoh and their consort (king or queen) for 100 years before the mantle is passed to the crown prince or princess. Their privy council is the senate court, the elected representatives from each species that resides in the city. So, it’s like a combination of a monarchy and democracy.
There are every day businesses, a university, schools, arts, and other things that flourish in the city. There is an army as well as a city guard (think police departments and medieval palace guards combined) that help keep order in the city and protect it from the monsters that lurk just beyond the Ikm’s reach. The technology is a mixture of what we use in todays world with some futuristic elements, think Avengers & The Black Panther, but we’re not Star Trek advanced yet.
The clothing is a mixture of current garb and ancient Egyptian clothing. It really varies from person to person and their personal preference. The city doesn’t really experience bad weather short of some rain fall, and cold weather is unheard of short of the celebration that the witches do around Christmastime.
And that is about all we have on that to share. Stay tuned for more site specific rules & more detailed information about the species to come out later tonight and throughout the course of this week leading up to our soft opening on December 5th!
The Witch Coven
-----
These 6 individuals are the coven elders. Along with the coven leader, they help keep the peace int he coven and tend to the spiritual and magical needs of the coven and the city. They all have great power that was vested in them by the ancestors that allows the to better serve the coven. They are in charge of checking in on the coven members, keeping community events going, and teaching the future generations about magic.
They are also tasked with the upkeep of the ikm and the magical upkeep of the cities’ protection. They are constantly adding and improving on their defenses, helping build them up so nothing could slip past the city defenses. They help the coven leader with the day to day business of running the coven and they serve as ambassadors for the witch race. They play an important role in the witch coven.
There are currently 6 open elders for the coven currently. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
The Resistance
----
Through the ages, there are immortals who remember what life was like before the monster menace swept through the world and upended the old order of things. They remember when the mortal humans used to hunt them down, burn them, stone them, drown them, and kill their kind. They don’t forgive the old wounds that were inflicted on the supernatural prior to the great war of the monsters, oh no, they have nursed the hatred for a millenia.
It has recently come to a head when a few years ago a few radical members of this sect approached the pharaoh beseeching him to turn the tide on the humans, to let them punish the humans in the city for the crimes of their ancestor and he refused. That was the spark that lit the flames of resistance that is pouring through the city. Once in the shadows, these individuals have become more embolden, kidnapping and torturing humans and defying the pharaoh’s laws in the city.
The resistance is led by 6 individuals, each unique for the race that they represent on this council of sorts. Some are dangerous, murderous, and violent. Others are cold and calculating, regardless they all want one thing. The natural order restored with humans on the bottom. How can humans support this you ask? Well, it’s simple. They see the supernaturals as gods, they’re fanatics almost wanting to serve the other races. Regardless, the city is on the brink of a civil war that is no longer staying in the shadows.
These leaders are key to the change that they want to happen in the city of Illeara. Currently, 5 out of the 6 canons are available. The Faery canon has already been claimed.
The Senate Court & Undersecretaries
-----
The Senators that sit on the court are the elected representatives for each race in the city. 6 seats for 6 races. 4 have regular elections, while 2 are special. The siren and the wolf do not undergo regular elections. The siren seat belongs to the crown prince or princess at the time and is always changed when each new pharaoh is seated. The wolf seat always belongs to the current pack alpha and only changes if the alpha is defeated or killed and a new one takes their place.
These 6 beings help uphold the pharaohs’ rule, help make laws, enforce them, and and also hold each member of their race accountable for the respected laws and customs of the city.
Their undersecretaries are their number 2 person, their right hand man or woman who often can and does stand in for them in ceremonies and in meetings if their senator is otherwise engaged. These 12 individuals are charged with keeping the peace and they all have singular duties that help keeps the city flowing smoothly; from the police chief and city guard to the finances of the city, they help maintain order in all aspects.
These 12 are important to the site and the first set of canons we are releasing here on will we live forever. Currently, 11 out of the 12 are open. The only one that is taken is the siren senator. Please message us if you have any questions about these canons.
