First Lines/Heads Up Seven Up Mashup! (Try saying that five times fast)
Thanks to @rachaellawrites for the tag!

A scene from What We Long For:
That morning, the flowers were browning and wilted, the yellow and purple petals scattering the floor below. The smell of decay replaced their sweet fragrance, and immediately I knew that something was wrong. As I walked deeper into the apartment, the smell grew stronger. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a bare foot sticking out from behind the counter.
Tagging (no pressure!) @gummybugg @clairelsonao3 @i-can-even-burn-salad @elshells and anyone else who wants to join in!

WIP Intro: What We Long For
Away on a mountain, a man lost his heart
His hope went with her and it tore him apart
Away on a mountain, clouds covered the sun
The man found a darkness he couldn't outrun
Away on a mountain, he swore his revenge
Future love would be false, all realities bent
Away on a mountain, fear the monster that rises
He will come from the shadows, will assume many guises
Away on a mountain, a man lost his heart
Now all who cross him will fall to his art
Summary
After discovering a local urban legend, Greyson Moore becomes convinced it is the cause of his sudden tragedy and begins a desperate search for answers.
Genre: Paranormal horror, (a little) romance, LGBTQ+
Themes: Love, loss, grief, possession, memory, time, regret
Content Warnings: 18+, mature content, angst, emotional abuse (not between MC), mental health, depression, mention of suicide, death, trauma (I will update these as needed)
Tropes: angst, dark humor, mystery/thriller, ghost story, urban legends, (and many more!)
This story is very important to me. It was inspired by a random word I saw while deep-diving on Wikipedia one day. Saudade, a Portuguese word, doesn't have an exact translation but most agree it means a feeling of longing or nostalgia for something absent or even non-existant. I became inspired to create my own urban legend based on this idea and after thinking about all the people I've seen experience true grief after leaving a relationship. Some of the struggles the MCs will face are also loosely based on my own experience in an emotionally abusive relationship.
OC Character Sheet Tag!
Thanks so much to @elshells for the tag, I’ve been patiently waiting for my turn!!! You can check out her OCs here.
Gently tagging @coffeewritesfiction @pandoras-comment-box @writinglittlebeasts @enchanted-fictions (If you have been tagged already I’d still love to see yours!)
I decided to use this opportunity to talk about WWLF and give my sad little gays time to shine!
Their handsome faces were created with Picrew’s Windswept Oc Maker (I love how sad Grey looks fhsshsh)

For the Random WIP Ask Game :)
What we lost in the fire + 🎶, 🍩
🎶 not really! My artistic skills begin and end with stick figures and while I have a couple of playlists I listen to, there are none that are spefic to this au.
🍩 Shikamaru has absoulty eaten a raw squirel at somepoint, he didn’t realize what he was doing until halfway through and the rest of the team have never let him live it down. As for the best thing…I’m not sure to be honest, Naruto would absolutely die on the hill that it was Ichiraku Ramen but that's very much his opinion only.
Thank you :)
📄What’s a WIP you never finished that you would like to go back and revisit?
🤬Is there a WIP that you hate?
Hey, Claire, thanks for the ask! From this ask game:
Surprisingly the answer is the same for both questions.
What We Long For was the WIP that brought me to Writeblr. I decided to participate in NaNo last year to get back into writing and was really surprised at how easy it was for me to connect with the story. I really got absorbed by the whole process for the first time in years, and that surge of creativity led me to the idea for ToL.
There was a lot resting on WWLF. I wanted to prove that I could write like used to and I wanted to prove that my love and fascination with horror could translate to storytelling. I had two OCs that had been with me for years and what I thought was a solid story. It just…didn’t work. I tried a dozen different angles, three different plots, different characters—it’s just not clicking for me. It’s a source of great frustration because I still feel like there’s something there, I just can’t make it work. It led to a week long depression and a lot of self doubt.
While I’ve accepted that the experience still helped me get back into writing and is therefore valuable, I’m still bummed that the story is dead and it will probably bother me for a long time.
Relationship Snippet Tag
Thanks for the tag, @talesofsorrowandofruin and @clairelsonao3 :)
Rules: Share a few lines or a snippet that sums up the main relationship(s) in your WIP
I’m going to leave this an open tag (but please tag me, I’d love to read your snippets!)
Hmm, I shared part of this snippet for a different tag game, but I’ll share the whole scene because I love when Will and Grey are just hanging out:
From What We Long For:
Hours later, Grey’s head rested in my lap, my legs propped up on the coffee table to support us. My fingers traced the outline of his nose as he focused on the crappy sci-fi rerun I had put on in the background.
“Hey, can I tell you about a cool thing I heard at work yesterday?”
“If there’s one thing I can always count on with you, it’s an interesting story.” He rolled over to meet my eyes with a small smile.
My head bobbed with excitement. “Okay, so I started this new unit on local legends and folklore, because it’s October and I needed an excuse to talk about Bigfoot.”
