Good morning dear friends, and happy Monday <3! Wishing you a very blessed day <3, and a very blessed week, with this picture of the new Kwan Yinn statue for the altar that I took last evening while we were doing the weekly altar cleansing. I loved how the last rays of light of the evening were creating shadows on the soft soapstone. You may not know this, but Kwan Yinn is probably the most revered Goddess in Maria Lionza's religion that is not African or Latin. I do not know where this tradition comes from, but there isn't a Maria Lionza portal that does not worship her. My padrino had a huge, gorgeous lacquered ceramic statue of her in his altar room that I adored, and I have a Spirit Guide that is Chinese, so it's no surprise that, in the past month, I have got two things from her as birthday gifts - this lovely statue from my sister in law, and a hanging ornament with her image from a dearest friend in the Netherlands. May Kwan Yinn remove all obstacles from your week, and fill you with grace, love, and compassion <3!

My constant work companion :). He's 8 years old, and was found by a friend in a trash bin when he was just a kitten. The kindest, most loving cat I've ever had, and our dog Baba's unofficial father - when she was just a puppy, he taught her to fight and play, and now that she is twice his size, they are always together.

Happy Wednesday, dear friends! My first post is a little later than usual today, because this morning we went wildharvesting after I finished the work for customers. The temperature was very mild, so it was a perfect day to go outside and enjoy nature before the heat makes everything dry and dead for a few months. Harvested fig tree leaves and juniper for the whole year, and of course made a visit to the nearby plant nursery to get some new plants :). Now we have a lot of work ahead, sorting the harvest and transplanting the new babies, so we're going to be quite busy for a few days.

Harvesting plants is only the first step of many until these herbs are used in my spellwork powders and in my private devotions - definitely, wildharvesting is not for the lazy! In the pic, the gorgeous fig tree leaves - don't be fooled by the picture, those leaves are over 15 inches wide. Fig foraging this year is going to be amazing!

Recipes: Herbal Sugar

Working on a new painting, after a couple of months of leaving the brushes aside. This is from a vintage postcard, and depicts a young boy in traditional Canarian clothing with his two dromedaries, an adult one and a younger one, both carrying the traditional green wooden chairs that were used to transpont people and goods.

Due to our rocky and dangerous volcanic geography, camels and dromedaries have been to us what horses were for other cultures. Also, the camel is one of my Animal Allies :) - strong, resilient, temperamental, and so beautiful. Pure, raw, crazy energy!

What you see here is just the first coat - there's still a lot of work ahead until it is finished. It's acrylic on wood, 25x17 cms (9,8 x 6,6 inches).

The painting hiatus has been good, I have to say - I needed a break from the fantasy+religious themes I've been exploring for the past years, and I honestly think that that era is finished for me, at least for a long while. I've been wanting to do a series on Canarian themes for a very long time, and this year is the year. No more waiting :). I won't be taking commissions for a while so I can focus on this new adventure, but if anyone is interested in any of the paintings I show, I am open to selling them. Just message me :).

And there we go - Mercury Retrograde begins, and everyone turns crazy. Once again, I feel like I have to say this - there is NOTHING to fear from this astrological event. You are being played into fear like a sheep, so someone with very little scruples sells you a magical remedy that is only a placebo - or better said, a f***ing joke.

You just cannot get away from this, because MR is a teacher, and not a punishment - and when a teacher comes, we don't run away, we say "Welcome" and listen, so we can learn. MR is not here to break your computer and make you lose your keys; Mercury Retrograde is only a part of the natural cycle of planets through the year, with the very powerful lesson of reminding us to be mindful, organized, responsible and slow to anger.

I don't know about you, but I definitely need a constant reminder of those things, because I am just human. And, stuff breaks and gets lost all the time, and that's just life. You don't need to protect yourself from life and its cycles, and even more, from its teachers. If you do that, how are you going to learn anything?

So, Mr. Mercury, welcome and thanks for visiting. I'll keep my keys on my purse, and will take a look at my computer and see if it needs a cleaning. I intend to make the best of whatever teachings you bring in this process :) <3.

Wishing you a very Blessed day <3, and a very Blessed beginning of the week.This weekend I've had a lot of friend requests and messages, thanks to Sarah Lawless’ repost of my blog (thanks so much again, dear friend!) - for those of you who have just started following my work, here are a few details I'd like to remind you:

- I will NOT answer one-line random emails. If you want me to work for you, you will address me respectfully. I am not a Free Magical Wikipedia, and my time online is only for my customers. If you have questions, consider purchasing a Guidance Service from the website, which is the exact reason why that service was created.

- English is not my mother tongue. I will NOT answer emails written as a phone text message style. I have no problem with AAVE (African American Vernacular English), or with customers from other countries that speak only a little English - if you are respectful, we will find the way to understand each other :).

- If you message me in a respectful way, and I don't answer in less than 24 hours, there are many chances that your message has been lost, OR that you didn't write your email address correctly and I can't answer you back. I keep up with my email several times a day, so PLEASE message me again!

- I am not a Wiccan, and I don't follow the Three Fold Law; so please, keep your opinion about curses and bindings to yourself. I am not a Catholic either, so please keep your opinions about hell and the Devil to yourself. Anyone who intends to send me their opinion about any of these things gets blocked immediately. I'm not interested in drama or discussions AT ALL, and I don't go around telling people what to do or how to live their spiritual life; but if you come for me, believe me, you will find me.

- And, last but not least, do not forget that I am an African, and a descendant of the Guanches, the aboriginal inhabitants of the islands, who were colonized, enslaved and slaughtered by the Spanish from the 15th to the 17th century, until the islands became permanent territory of Spain. I am not friends with racists, nor with cultural appropriators.
