Something Wicked - Steve & Diana
Thick shadows kept him out of sight of the tall, dark-haired, goddess as she strode through the plaza of the great museum. Her hair was twisted into a chignon, and he had no trouble remembering how silky it felt when he’d had it wrapped around his fingers. Her soft hair. The scent of her warm skin and the taste of her lips.
“Hello Diana,” he whispered, a small smile curving his lips. He’d been watching her since he’d been set free from his torment, a torment that was her fault. She’d lied to him about who she was. Made him feel like he couldn’t live without her. Like he needed her to matter, but he didn’t. He knew better now. Ares showed him the way. Gave him new life and a purpose. He was to destroy her.
Steve Trevor knew he couldn’t defeat her physically. She was a child of the gods. But he could break her another way. He’d manipulate her. Lie to her. Do all that he was trained to do and tie her up emotionally until her mind snapped. He was looking forward to it.
He’d already left a gift for her in her office, a snow globe with a village that looked almost like Veld, a toy plane like the one he’d crashed in during the war, and telling her to be at the Café Noir at 5pm. Glancing at his old watch that he’d stolen from her office, he saw he had several hours to kill until then.
