HA! SURPRISE WIP WEDNESDAY!! 🐸

In which it is *me* that's the most surprised about the fact that not only do I have something to share, but I am also initiating the tag game. 😌

WE FINALLY HAVE THE FROG!RAVVY LORE! And a glimpse into Ravvy's youth and college friends. They make me so terribly emotional and I want to write a whole-ass prequel about them and the shenanigans they did as students.

“What?” Moria asks, her voice muffled by her cigarette. Ah, yes, the smoking healer, truly a work of ironic art.

“We need your help-” Syndolin starts to say, brows furrowed and clearly trying to mask his concern.

“-I TURNED RAVVY INTO A FROG!” Rolis interrupts him.

“You what?!” She asks, but before she can slap the living Oblivion out of the young mage, she can hear a ribbit, then another… then another, and it’s coming from… Syndolin’s pocket?

“I swear if this is a prank-”

“Trust me, I wish it was…” Syndolin mutters, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration and reaching into his pocket, very gingerly retrieving a milk frog. 

Moria takes a deep breath as reality sets in. Those green eyes clearly betray their owner. It is indeed destruction adept Ravonna, for some reason. “Why?”

“I just wanted to practice! And this was not the intended result, I promise you.”

“And what exactly was the intended result?” 

“I wanted to swap their looks…” he vaguely gestures to where Syndolin is holding Frog Ravonna to his chest.

“Aaand that’s where you come in, right? You fucking enabler.” She points to the Altmer.

“Who am I to stop the inevitable progression of magic? Besides, she wanted to do it even more than me.”

“THAT IS NOT THE POINT! You know spell-brewing is forbidden without supervision, and PEER EXPERIMENTATION IS EVEN MORE FORBIDDEN! It the most forbiddenest thing!” 

“Croak!” 

“Oh, you shut it!”

To give a twinge of context: they're probably in their second or third year as mage students in Vivec. Moria studies the school of Restoration, while Rolis studies Illusion. They're both dunmer. Syndolin and Ravonna are both in the Destruction Magic school. My headcanon is that once enrolled in the Mage College, you need to chose a major specialization and focus on that. While these 4 have different majors, they still have plenty of courses in common.

The writing is wonky and kind of bad, but I wanted to share this with y'all :')

Sorry if some of you already did this. I am still very much out of the loop, but trying my best to squeeze back into this fandom.

Also, Moria is not named after the One Piece character, she is named after a dwarf power metal song I've been obsessing with. And while it is the name of the old forgotten Dwarven city in LOTR, the name sounds very Dunmer-ish to me.

wip wednesday

A trillion thanks to @bostoniangirl21 who tagged me in wip wednesday last week, which made me immediately open my wtgtya document and write like a crazy person. IDK what kind of sorcery was that but it is very appreciated <3 <3 I hope I can spread the inspiration sorcery further by tagging @hircines-hunter @dirty-bosmer @pocket-vvardvark @bougainvillea-and-saltwater @thelavenderelf @illumiera

In other news, I started writing Attack on Titan fanfiction! But I'm sharing some Skyrim oc x oc propaganda now. Have some student era Ravonna and Syndolin being chaotic wizards who are also a bit toxic and obsessed? Also, if y'all are curious about how Syndolin looks like, this is the reference I found that looked the closest to how I picture him! But he has both eyes, and his hair is longer and more orange than red.

She pushed everyone to safety with a surge of telekinesis, right before the walls crumbled, and used all that anger as fuel as she levitated towards that self-sacrificial idiot. He may not die here. No. The only way he may die is by her hand. She won’t allow anything else.

“WHAT?! What do you think you’re doing? You were supposed to run! I could have held them off long enough to escape.” Syndolin shouts through casting spells.

And she’s angry. She’s so angry that she smacks him on the wall with telekinetic magic. She sees red. “What do you fucking think you’re doing?”

“What is wrong with you?” He gets up from where he fell, fast enough to tackle her behind a rock, avoiding the steam attack from one of the Centurions.

“Ugh!” She grunts, as they roll on the ground until she’s on top of him. “What is wrong with you? You can’t just - do that! I’m not leaving without you.”

“Why not? So that we both die?” He grits his teeth.

“We won’t die if we work together! We’re the strongest together, remember? You cannot just die!”

And then, despite the overwhelming odds, they lock eyes, and something electric crackles between them. That shared, burning certainty that together, they are unbreakable. Syndolin exhales sharply, then smirks. “Oh, so it’s like that, huh?”

“Bet I can take down more of these fuckers than you?” She smiles, and there it is again - that damn sharp smile, showing teeth and bringing her brows together.

And just like that, their fight becomes art. They move like a storm, bodies weaving between steam blasts and razor-sharp Dwemer blades. They bounce spells off each other, shifting between offense and defense without a word, like a battle-tested dance. They laugh, breathless, exhilarated, high on the danger of it all. It’s reckless. It’s chaos. It’s them.

And when they lay together in the aftermath, collapsed close to each other on the ground, facing the ceiling, they are breathless and high on the rush, the adrenaline, the destruction of it all. Their faces are bloody and dirty, their robes are torn, and yet, they’re buzzing. Ravonna’s almost manic laugh reverberates through the halls of this forgotten Dwemer city.

“I have no idea how we’re still alive.” She says through giggles. “It makes no sense!”

And Syndolin turns his head. Her chest is heaving with laughter. Blood flows from her hairline, painting half of her face in red. Everything hurts in Syndolin’s body. Blood waterfalls out of his nose, and he’s pretty sure he busted an eyebrow, but he’s never felt lighter, and he feels himself laugh, loud and free. He feels like floating.

“Are you sure we are alive?” He says after catching his breath. “We never took on a fight quite like that.” He sees mossy eyes turn to him. “What if we actually died and this is the afterlife?”

Ravonna contemplates for a second, her smirk never leaving her lips. “I don’t know, I feel very alive right now…” She shifts slightly to fully look at him. “What about you?”

A pause. And then, “Yeah. I feel pretty alive now, too.” And he laughs again, breathless with both revelation and slight concern that maybe this is not normal.

wip and a... life update?

Hi there. It's been a hot minute. I've been tagged by a lot of people to share multiple wips on multiple Wednesday. I haven't really engaged with you in a while, and for that I apologize.

Rambles, life updates and feels ahead, you do not have to read it all. I just want to say: thank you for being part of my amazing fandom journey. Without you guys, WYGTYA wouldn't be where it is today :'). I don't know how much I will be posting, but I want to finish my stories, because I have plans I am very excited about in terms of plot. But lately I've been pulled into other incredible fandoms and their contents just scream: CONSUME ME!! READ ME!! And it's all a bit hard to manage. Right now, I am trying to find excitement in the uncertainty of my future. Keep tagging me in WIP Wednesdays so this way I can post the parts that I have with Syndolin, too, and get a reaction and maybe not suffer alone about the fact that I ship him with Ravonna so much that I am considering updating this fic's pairings.

Okay I'll spare you all and put the big-ass life update under the cut

Truth is, I'm doing very weird mentally. I'm at a point in my life where I truly have no idea what's next, and 2024 has been one of my best years, with two different exchange semesters and I don't know how anything will compare. I know I haven't been active on here anymore last year, but I grew so, so much as a person, and I realized that I am stronger than I thought. It may sound silly, but I keep patting myself on the back for being able to adapt and live on my own for a year in two different countries where I knew no one. I went in there not knowing a single soul and left with tears in my eyes and wonderful friends. People that managed to heal this heart of mine that I didn't even know was kind of wounded. People that I truly feel safe around to be myself with 0 judgement coming from them. People who I miss so much that it hurts somewhere in the core of my chest. But now it's over, and I'm back in my homecountry with mixed feelings. I love it here. It's home, right? It's my family, my besto friendo, and my original group of friends who all cannot wait to spend time with me. (which is another existential crisis all on its own. My absence led me to the realization that people actually miss me so much and actually love me and choose to spend time out of their day with me. And I don't want them to miss me, but I also want to be selfish and live for myself because I only have this one life) But is this home all the home there ever will be in my life? I don't think I want that. I want to travel more. Actually not just travel. I want to have so many different jobs in as many different countries, because everywhere I go, I tend to find a way to make it home, even though it's not a house (it's a city, a room dedicated for board games, a rented apartment with 4 other girls, a Ramen place, and about three different Irish Pubs)

To me it is surprising, because not even in a million years was I expecting to relate to my character so much. It's kind of blending together, blurry to where I don't know when art imitates life and I write and put her in situations similar to mine as a coping mechanism, or when life imitates art and I genuinely live through stuff that I was once only thinking about and putting in word documents for an oc who wouldn't've existed if I didn't start playing Skyrim in 2021. Anyways, I did the outline for the fic until Chapter 30 waaay back in 2022, and where I am at in the story right now, Ravonna is going back to Vivec, where she spent her college years, making friends and finding families. And while her story is much more intense than mine, I cannot help but shake my head with a smile on my face as I think about how just last week I visited Austria again, and reconnected with everyone and got very in my feels about the unbearably intense nostalgia that was raining over me the whole time. I don't know what the future holds (or if Ravonna is a self-fulfilling prophecy, if it is, I am kind of fucked because I have an ending in mind and trust me, my girl is not gonna have a good time most of the time) but what I know for certain is that Austria will always have my heart, and I will always consider that semester to be one of the best times of my life, and I am so happy with the synchronization, because now I have a chance to express a part of my emotions about coming back to a place where you spent your best time, through her story. It's very bittersweet, because you miss the place, and you miss everything, even when it's right in front of your eyes because you miss what you used to have then. I know I can visit whenever I want and that I have so many friends who are still there, but I still miss what I used to have then. I never really let myself enjoy anything in life as I did the last two months I spent there. Hell, I even miss that version of me. I miss being able to live in the present and sacrificing all the time and sleep just to see my friends. But it happened, and I am so grateful that it did. I will have the memories and the friendships forever with me. But this is life, isn't it? This is what it's all about.

WIIIIIP

Hi, everyone! It's been a hot minute. Life has been lifeing a bit too much and now I'm in a very stressful period. My mental health is... not doing amazing, but the escapism urge is biiiiig so chapters might be updated soon for both WYGTYA and HOTHS! I have no idea how consistent I will be, as I fluctuate between emotionally charged inspiration boom and mental exhaustion. I *do* have stuff to share for this tag game, however, so have snippets:

~WYGTYA chapter 17 (do not be fooled by this, the chapter is a fucking angst-fest):

“You…” she breathes, “you’ve been spending too much time with us.”

“Maybe too little. I’m no prude, you know?”

“Sorry, you just seem the type to put your hand on your hips and say ‘Language!’ when people swear.”

“Gods, is that the impression I give?”

“Eh, you’re right. I don’t know you well enough to say. I’m sorry, I think it’s just ‘cause you’re a healer, you know?” 

“Hopefully we’ll have enough time to fix my tarnished reputation, hm?”

“Hopefully.”

“We were talking about feelings.”

“You were.”

~HOTHS chapter 4:

“Still alive, and look! I found us a bartender.” Rhaim says, yanking a warhammer from a dead Thalmor and swinging it, hitting three in the process. He nods towards a Nord not too far away, kicking his way through the mass of Thalmor and throwing every sharp object he gets at them.

“I’m not a fucking bartender, you fucker!” He shouts, and Signe couldn’t be more elated. He looks feral, blood staining his rags and his blond hair. He fights with a rage that she can feel radiating, even from where she’s fighting.

He stabs a Thalmor right through the heart with a dagger. Signe realizes that she let herself get distracted by the possible new addition to the crew when she feels a sharp pain in her upper arm and sees that she’s been slashed by the very Thalmor who let them enter this place. But just as she was readying herself for a fight, a flying dagger pierces through her skull, right in the middle of her forehead, eyes rolling in the back of her head and dropping dead within seconds. She can hear a distant “Told you I have exceptional aim!”. Signe jerks her head back to the Nord, who’s approaching the body to retrieve the knife.

“The one-eyed woman! You’re kind of a celebrity around here.” He grins, kicking another Thalmor who approached Signe behind her back. “Nice to finally meet you, fellow Nord. I’m Edward. If you need a cook in your crew, I’m your man.”

Chapter 17: A minute from home, but so far from it

The dust is gone. The candles are lit. The leaves in the garden are still there. So is the weird step into the brewery that used to make everyone stumble. The passers-by are curiously looking at the windows of the once-great Emerald Bar Tavern having light in them again. Ravvy’s room is untouched. Her lute is severely untuned. Her initials are still carved into the wood of her bedframe. The plushies are still on the bed. Her cringeworthy first attempts at writing lyrics are still in the box in the attic. All the portraits are still on the walls. The showers and baths are in the same place, right where Ravvy got scared of the scrib all those years ago. Everything’s still there. The love is there. All of it. (...) Perhaps she lost this home, but she found many others along the way. Perhaps endings are really just new beginnings, as cheesy as it may sound. And after all, lost things are never really lost if the love is still there, and the Emerald bar still overflows with it. As she gets drowned in the sadness, gratefulness, longing, and everything else, all she can think about is how grief is the greatest price you pay for love. 

Here it is, folks! As promised, the dreaded chapter 17 of Wherever you go, there you are. Happy two year birthday to this fic. It's not perfect, but it's mine and I love it, and dare I say that I am even proud of it? Especially this chapter. Thank you so much for being a reader. First off, since WYGTYA was the first fic I started posting, it's only fair to start with the ships from there!

One the left, we have the Ravvyraak! She's making Miraak hold her lute because she wants to get another fancy goblet of booze, of course. She's probably teasing him and calling him a lightweight.

And on the right, we have Rumcurio! I haven't picked a background because I can really see Rumarin and Marcurio sneaking off into a dark corner to make out :)))) Maybe both ships are at the same party.

Do Fenrik/Miraak and Rumarin have the same haircut? Yes, but consider this: they got ready for the party together because they're besties, and ever since Chapter 10, Rumarin wants Fenrik to always braid his hair.

And here's a little bonus! My Nerevarine (the red-haired one) and her girlfriend, who is a great-aunt (adoptive) of Ravonna! She is the one who brought a literal emerald bar for the Tavern when the family business started in Blacklight, thus giving it the name "The Emerald Bar"! Aaaand, Ravvy's adoptive dad named her after this woman! I can never have enough Ravonnas, underused name tbh.

And now for the pirates that are rotting my brain (SPOILER WARNING FOR THE HOTHS SHIPS, I guess)

In order of appearance, we first have Rhaim, everyone's favourite werewolf, with Edward, this annoyingly competitive Nord that's really good at cooking and throwing knives. (the apple is a reference to a dumb line of dialogue that Rhaim says in the upcoming chapter!)

Up next we have Rajeena, skilled warrior, very well-trained, is used to the pirate life, and the crazy Breton named Iresette, who just got a taste of freedom and she realized that she's been starved of it for all her life. (These two haven't appeared yet, but the brainrot is too strong not to include them here)

I know this next one is basically the first ship that appears in HOTHS, but it's not really a canon ship and this is all I'll say on the matter. The redhead is Anne, the voice of reason, endlessly loyal to the woman who introduced her to piracy, which is none other than the captain herself, Signe! WYGTYA readers already know how important Signe is for the plot and which iconic Skyrim NPC she secretly is ;) ALSO, THE ONE-EYED CHARACTER DESIGN IS NOW MY FAVE SIGNE TRAIT!
