I need to start writing again
This is going to be a mixed bag of thoughts since I don't normally text post often. If you read all of this, I fucks witchu:
Pretty much since the Fuck A Genre Festival, I've taken a bit of a sabbatical from my music. It's a gift and a curse honestly: I needed some time to just rest the mind up and think of ways to expand my horizons, but at the same time, it's often a bitch to get the ball rolling again. My third mixtape is TBD because of a combo of time constraints and I simply don't like rushing out something I'd be fully satisfied with. Upside is I've been getting some ideas going, and things would help when I get a full time gig in terms of getting equipment.
Speaking of full time gigs (dig the segue): So some of you know that I'm interning once again, this time working with PR and Social Media for the Hospital for Special Surgery (near Marymount Manhattan College and Hunter College for my followers that go there waddup). I'm a person who let's his work ethic do the talking, and it's definitely showing. Within the past couple of weeks, I've been meeting the right people, and just recently, I had to write up a press release as a test. Hopefully I'll be taking my talents there fully by this month or in January. Music, meet ears.
I'm gonna shout out some people real quick. First, December 21st, 3 pm to 8 pm. What does this mean? If you guys that live in NY are free and want to see a musical showcase with high implications in mind, hit me up. More importantly, if you're able to make it, I want you to help root for the bro Man'E Ill. Roughly 500 or so people are attending to see this go down, and if he wins, it'll be great. Tickets are 20 bucks a head, so let me know if you have serious inquiries. E has always been there for me whenever I needed him and vice versa; that's my blood right there.
Next, I didn't do this last week, but man am I grateful to still be here. The 24th of November 2013 will forever be etched in my head and it truly taught me not only that you shouldn't take things for granted, but you should truly appreciate those that are around you. Many besos y abrazos for all of the people who stuck with me not only through that scary, troubling time, but through all the good and bad times. Much love.
Lastly, shout out to the people who had some revelations this past week. Whether it was adding to your tattoo collection, getting a piercing (I'm looking at you), you saw your ex inadvertently at a bar on Thanksgiving eve and played it cool (yup, that happened folks...to someone else of course), or you gave some great advice from a different perspective to someone who needed a pick me up, good shit my friend. We only have one life to live, why not try to make it a happy one?
All in all, this was a great Thanksgiving weekend and I'm surrounded by a great amount of good people, younger and older than me. Also, I realized that I needed to know the difference between being a phase and being a sure thing. Got my eyes open now, I definitely learned, now it's time to start fucking living.
Let's make December a great one. Stay classy Tumblrmaniacs.
