🔽 - Childhood headcanon - Regis

I imagine Regis as a child being much like his older, sober self. Naturally curious and wanting to know the mechanics of everything. Seeing the actions and hearing the conversations around him and yearning to understand. I see him as quiet and shy unless he’s around a friend he’s extremely close with or a family member. As he grows he never quite grows out of his shyness around the opposite sex, though he does gain a very small circle of friends his parents approve of him spending time with.

The times he gets into trouble are probably stemming from his need to solve and categorize the msytery of the world arround him. Ferreting away books he’s been told to stay away from either because they’re priceless heirlooms or feature unseemly topics,  sneaking out to spy on a meeting the adults are holding concerning a certain topic, things of that nature. I can imagine him being too bookish or boring for other young vampires, leading them into dizzying conversations on topics they know nothing about and don’t care for. 

I also see him(Absolutely 100% influenced by Baptism in Blood) as a child sheltered by his family from the world around him and it only makes his need to know and experience things away from the safety of his parents’ home nearly unbearably powerful. Hearing secondhand tales of his friends’ adventures and scuffles while he’s not allowed to roam whilst realizing that while stil a kiddo, he’s grown enough to deserve some leeway. Whether they’re doing it because they’re overprotective after an unknown tragedy or some other reason is anybody’s guess.

♒ - Cooking/food headcannon

Regis definitely knows his way around a kitchen. I see him as somebody who would sit in the kitchen and watch whoever was cooking, just because it’s merely one more thing he’s curious about. It’s far more about the possibilities with the ingredients at hand than sustenance for him. 

He’s somebody who has been foraging for an extremely, hilariously long time and has the skill to show for it. With his sense of smell he’s incredible at finding herbs and detecting what roots/barks/seeds etc can be ground to create high quality, exceptional spices. He’s traveled a great deal in his years and while he hasn’t been sitting at the tables of a lot of royalty he’s tasted the regional delicacies of many places and been elated with a great deal of them, some he might seek to convince a local shopkeep to begin importing when he wishes to live in a new region. Whether it’s the cheese derived from a certain species or the meat from a particular farm, he'll seek to obtain these small comforts if he has the means.

I can definitely headcanon him as the ultimate hobo-foodie, the person able to make something seemingly bare-bones taste gourmet. He probably has a tidy herb and vegetable garden at any home meant to be long-term and practices good crop rotations. He has the experience of many years to know his own tastes and makes sure to keep those plants well-tended, but planned with enough to offer the rare guest.

Met one of my oldest friends online and we only chatted through MSN and then one day we both realized we went to the same middle school and it had been like a year since we started talking lmao. I burned them an anime soundtrack on a CD in exchange for a copy of Kingdom Hearts on PS2 and that was our first in person social interaction. Introvert life.
