Our proposal titled share Ås seeks to create a new vibrant center for the dynamic town of Ås, that connects the locals, the students and the visitors at one place only 2 minutes from the central station.
We transform 3 existing buildings into relevant funcitons ( a house into a museum forthe famous Norwegian artist Odd Tandberg , a supermarket into a multifunctional space that hosts a gourmet food market , a gallery and office space, and another house into a pub) ,while at the same time we introduce an L shaped student house that embraces the existing buildings and creates an elaborate public plaza. The L shaped plaza hosts nature and culture together in a pleasant landscape with south and west orientations.
The student house itself results as a slight metathesis of volumes both in plan and section in a way that a terraced green boundary is created: each apartment faces either south or west and fefatures a 4x 2 m . terrace that thanks to the stepping effect , is private , yet enjoys great view to the plaza. Last but not least, the roof of the building is an extensive public green garden, open to all the students that live in the complex and their guests.
